Hey guys,

I just went thru and deleted a bunch of posts in the For Sale thread that were pretty much useless.

We would LOVE to keep that thread "clean". If a forumite see there's an unread post in that thread they should expect to cruise on by and see a new post with an EBMM guitar for sale. That's the goal... [potential] buyers will be happy and so will seller.

Please stop the "wow that's pretty", "PM sent", "If I had the $" type posts.

The goal really is to provide a spot for buyers and sellers of EBMM guitars. Posts like "PM sent" etc provide no value to anyone. I don't want to be too harsh but, honestly, nobody cares that you sent a PM! The recipient will see it (may even get an email), you'll have it in your sent box. All a post like that does is clutter up the thread...

When the thread gets cluttered people start bumping posts they made a week ago etc etc.

So, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, refrain from non-for-sale-related posts. If Jack and/or I decide it's a hastle to periodically "clean" that thread BP may just decide to get rid of it and we all lose a pretty useful resource for finding used MM gear.

Thanks
-Arin

Amen and thank you, my biggest peave on the forum, right next to trying to sell a non EBMM guitar or Bass.

Wish that was the case Pete, just a spelling error and to think I won a spelling bee once when I was a kid and still play scrabble with my Mom:eek:

Anyways everyone should get the point and thank you Arin:)

Exactly what I've been saying. It sucks to scroll through all the clutter, to see what's for sale. And stop with the QUOTES that include PICTURES. It's a horrendous PITA and waste of space.

+1 on that Jim. Even sellers are quoting their own sales. Of course, with the other clutter, who can blame them.

If you want to comment on a guitar for sale, start a new thread and add a link to the one for sale.

If you are selling a guitar and change something (price, shipping, etc), just repost it as a new reply and delete the old one.

Sometimes these kind of posts even keep me from taking a look in the 'For sale' thread

Who really gives a s**t if you just sent out an email, a pm or whatever?
IF you did so, well fine! But why would everybody else need to be notified of it?
What's the benefit?

"Oh, what a nice guitar! Email and PM just sent! And I also just scratched my head, moved a glass of water on my table from the left to the right and for good measure, I just laid a fart in the middle of the room!"

Pleeeeeeeeeease listen to phatduckk so the 'for sale' thread will stay around!

I agree the "PM sent" and "wow, nice guitar" comments are useless. But asking a legit question about a guitar for sale in the the "guitars for sale" thread is not supposed to happen? Starting a new thread to ask a question....really!?! Seems very odd.

no, dont start a thread about a for sale item. that's a bit overkill... and at that point we'll end up with a bunch of threads in the main forum. if you have a question about a guitar then PM the seller

Id suggest that the rule of thumb be: "if you can do it via PM, then do it via PM".

New members can certainly be excused for it, but when its the same people over and over its annoying. Problem is none of us want to then pop a post to say 'stop it', cua thats just as useless.

I think its just something that is going to happen all the time.

Every post should be recorded on your MusicMan record. Posts on the for sale thread that shouldnt be there should incur a 1 month delay on your guitar order;):D that should shut a few people up.

Serious offenders can ofcourse be banned from any knucklehead bash, or invited and publicly flogged.:)

Just a thought, Dizzy may actually like a public spanking!

Hey- here's a thought.

When somebody posts a comment in that thread that shouldn't be there, politely PM them and let them know. Ask them to delete the comment themselves.

I'm sure we can police this ourselves, without having to burden Arin and Jack to clean up after us knuckleheads.

That's what I was thinking except I didn't consider the "polite" part. The other thing is that for this to work we should all send a PM.;)
