Well if its going to be a bass and a guitar, could it be a double neck bass and guitar similar to the one Steuart from the Eagles has for Hotel California but with a bass?

I'm with the hollow or semi hollow body idea.

I've thought of other non feasible ideas like 8 string, 12 string (unless Tom Petersson is coming on board), headless.

How about a built in tazer for when you get some drunkard coming at you on stage.

A 3 string? no wait that's been done.

A passive bass would be cool.

I don't think neck through as there hasn't been one before and I think it would take too much time/money to do one.

I assume that this is going to be designed to run alongside the existing range?

My final guesses would be:

Acoustic
Semi Acoustic
Thinline chambered body
Passive
Fanned Frets

guessing is nice and I'd also love acoustics/chambers etc...

but maybe it's better to think with a business mind (which I do not have) and think of something that would sell a lot...

my guess is different pickups types and configurations and lighter materials.

anyway I am very very curios...and ready to add something to my family...

A rotisserie so I can cook turkey legs.....

Seriously, I think we're going to see something in the electronics area. Over the last few years Sterling has made comments here and there about the potential for great things to be done with advanced electronics.

He's also said things about wanting to drive the industry forward.

I doubt we'll see a whole new body type (e.g. semi-hollow) just for an anniversary model. Too much involved on the design and manufacturing side.

But a classic EBMM model with radical electronics....

That accomplishes a lot of things. Since it's an anniversary model, using an existing design honors the past. Since EBMM was about innovation and doing things differently in the first place, it honors the spirit of innovation and the desire to move forward.

If I'm anywhere close to on-target, I'd look for a mode that lets the bass behave just as the existing model would, so that it retains the heart of the original, but gives you added capabilities.

Lots of interesting ideas.

(Also lots of insane ideas, which pretty much sums up the nature of the internet forum.)

So, BP, is anyone close?

How about some sort of non-wood body material?

Hmmm.....

Matted hair? Yeah.

They tried alternative materials early on in the Bongo design process, but my understanding is that wood just worked better. Wood is a pretty amazing material, actually.

BP has also expressed publicly his interest in sustainability and alternative materials, to this might be possible... but IMHO only if it actually offers an advantage over wood.
