Here's a semi-related question.... can I put Not Even Slinky strings onto a Silo Spec without having any issues with the nut size?

..seems to be too late to answer sufficiently..
..anyway..
..i have a 1992 silo with an invader in the bridge and another 1992 silo with a dactivator x in the bridge..i do prefer the dactivator a bit but both of them despite their high power are capable of doing quite interesting crunch sounds also..
..i made them all splitable and i was surprised how relatively well the split sounds are..
..combined them with hot rails/cool rails and my guitars are really versatile..

I'd be very careful to make sure the strings sit at the very bottom of the nut groove with no tight resistance. Otherwise I'd have them opened more to fit.

so!!!

Time to bump this thread with a new question...
The air norton S is in!! I've just ordered the tone zone... Now I'm just wondering. The stock pickup in the middle position can work with the air norton and the tone zone???? Or the pickup is not loud enough to go with the two new?

If I can keep the stock middle one I'll save the cash in prevision of brand new sterling silver lefty jp6 !!!!!!

Thanks agains for your help!

Jeb

The breed is good but you may be interested in th BG hellabucker. If you go here BG Pups Hand Wound Custom Guitar Pickups by Bryan Gunsher you will see it. great pickup and if you want one I have one in a guitar I am going to sell soon along with two of his vintage single coils but they really dont go that well together as the hellabucker has alot of output. If you go to the sounds page you will see some videos I made of the pickups in my Jackson. BG Pups Handwound Custom Guitar Pickups by Bryan Gunsher

so!!!

Time to bump this thread with a new question...

Actually, after rethinking my previous posts, I've decidede that anything everyone here says is redundant (including me). All you need for your Silo Spec to become metal is this:

It'll turn even a banjo player into a Metal God.:D

And if you really want a better version, check our the Keeley Mod MT-2.

I made my mind with the tone zone... I already have the air norton S. Now I just need to figure if I really have to change the middle one... or I can keep it if the output of the stock one will works with the tone zone and air norton.

Cheers!!

I'm sorry Whitestrat, but the MT-2 is the crappiest distortion pedal ever. I've had it for a LOOOONG time and every time it sounds like s**t. Does not matter which way and in which order of combination's you turn the knobs, it sounds fuzzy and ruins the tone.

I think the Tone Zone is a really good choice, but I've also done some research on the Air Zone, which has a bit less power but very clear and tight and heavy and versatile.

Another option is the EVO2 (DiMarzio). I have this in my 20th Silo and it really kicks some serious culo.

Well for the middle one you can maybe go with the Chopper, which has more power than the stock pup. PLUS it will look in line with the Air Norton since it is also the RAIL type. Fast Track 1 are also very nice.

That's why I mentioned the Keeley mod...:D

I was considering a Metal Zone to pair with my Silo, but I went with a Damage Control Solid Metal instead. It turned my Fender 15w Blues junior into a fire breathing all-tube high gain amp. And my Silo loves it. The way it cleans when you roll off the volume is unbelievable. Now that's a real guitar transforming machine! Highly recommended. All you need is a good clean channel on any amp or cabinet. Also it's pretty versatile, it can go from ACDC and soft rock crunch to scooped death metal.
