I was on another forum and read some thoughts on bass solos - the main consensus was if it aint slapped its not worth listening too and finger plucked solo's suck -

I responed first -by saying -please someone tell stanley C his finger plucked solo's dint work -

the bottom line -Any bass solo has to be musical !! i dont care if ya pluck -pick -slap -play with your teeth or shoe lace - chops to hell -speed of light ! make it MUSICAL -use your theory and knowlage of keys -exploit that!
-knowledge is power ---not volume-!

tell me if im off base on this ---and forgive my bad spelling -lol

It's Tony Levin, yes.

My apologies, my dry humor didn't translate from Texas English to the Queen's. :)

Ha Ha! No problem, bud. It's the text thing and new forum thing. I'm still trying to figure out who's who, and what type of humour is going on here, etc. I sat there and thought "err...is it this guy that's being a bit stupid here, or me?"

Turns out it was me.:D

Levin. A bass player i've only recently got into. I've just worked out the line to a song called "Elephant talk". Well, a "version" of it, anyway...

Both Mr. Levin and Mr. La Rue are top-notch, gracious fellows.

Victor Wooten is also a very nice person that will take time out after a grueling show to talk to fans sincerely. Pity he pays way too much for his basses, though; when a Sterling or Bongo would probably suit him just fine. ;)

Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Dmanlamius. I'm Ben. This is a great place to hang on the internetz.

Hiya, Ben!

Man, you are so lucky to have met these people....We don't get nearly as many opportunities over here in England. Like, there aren't that many bass shows that I know of.

You should write up your experiences with them in a blog or something. I'd love to read about them and see the pictures.
