Are you tuning down?
Have you put the amp in an entirely different location?
Have you tried changing your amp settings?
Tried a different amp?
Tried some new strings, perhaps a slightly heavier gauge?
It's almost unheard-of for a regular production Music Man instrument to leave the nest with a problem. The odds of a BFR leaving SLO with a wonky note is even more remote. They don't want bad instruments out there. If the guys at the factory say they can't find a problem, then there's nothing wrong with the guitar.

I think it might be an issue with the gauge of strings your using.On my BFR it came with 9,s but i couldnt bond with them as they were too much like rubber bands so i put 10,s on it and its perfect now.
why dont you try and put 10,s on it?

I don't see what the problem is.
I don't have a guitar that DOESN'T cause other strings to resonate if played in that manner, Floyded Ibanez included - in ANY postion (some more apparent than others)
If you're having an issue with a JP, I'd hate to see what you think of my hardtail 20th's (also toneblock equipped, and resonate more than my BFR JP).
You can feel every note through those guitars - it's bliss.
These are the most harmonically rich guitars I've ever heard / played - and I wouldn't want them any other way !
I'm not surprised you're finding marked differences to the Steinberger : is there even enough wood in those to provide any resonance or influence to the tone ???
Ermmm, yep.......... And JP has no complaints, right ??
BP's right, it seems like this guitar's not for you.

I'm also pretty picky about how my guitars sound, but remember that we're not talking about a frequency generator. (half the forum is now shaking their heads and saying...."engineer"). So keep in mind some of the things already said to this issue. I have overanalyzed a bunch of guitars and although my conclusion is that I must play what I'm considering buying first, I have found some things along the way that may help.
If you go the the guitar shop in question, find a really beefy Les Paul. Something like a Zakk Wylde. I believe it's all mahogony. That thing should resonate so much it'll make your hands hurt. That's a "feature" in a guitar like that. I have one mahogony guitar and it does have that trait......but it's what I like about it. I can play one string and all the others resonate. I can do a harmonic on one string and get multiple strings to join in. So much so that I do a harmonic on one string and then mute that string. Cool effect.....but if you don't want that to happen it's not so cool.
Another thing I've done is make subtle string changes. I assume you've already changed the strings as an attempt to change this attribute. Try changing just the string in question, but change the gauge slightly. If it's....say a 17, go to an 18 or 21 or 23. See what happens. Be sure to lubricate the nut in the process. (no quotes of that statement, please)
BP made reference to adding something to the springs to dampen them. I run my Axis with no rear cover and can feel them resonate with any trem use. This might be the key. Take a small rubber band and wind it around each spring between the coils. It won't help when the trem is pulled down, but will while the springs are at rest.

Could you record a video of the problem and upload it? Maybe that will help get your message across.
I've tried several different gauges of strings (re-trimming as I go), from tite wounds to slinky's- I haven't tried a 10 set on the B string yet, and I've sold everything else I could to afford this new rig. I'm not sure a change of string gauge will make the difference- the guitar is just too resonate.
The problem occurs unplugged, but is the worst on a dirty patch(s) Horrible with a dirty patch and delay (obv)
I don't really have that capability, but I'll try.
There are 2 inherent problems with this type of post:
1) You are always best served dealing with a company directly and not coming to a message board for customer service. From what I can see EB has tried (according to your own words) to provide you with follow up service and take care of your problem. It should stay in this channel and not here.
2) You are coming to a place where these folks on the board take pride in their association with the company and are clearly very loyal - so you are not going to garner any real support (even though some have tried to offer helpful advice). The minute you start sounding frustrated and sour towards things - they will turn on you and it is to be somewhat expected.
To be perfectly honest - I don't understand the problem you are experiencing - in one post you talk about the guitar resonating in a odd manner acoustically and in another post talking about how the lights and outlets affected things - so I cant make heads or tails of whether you are experiencing a structural problem or an electrical one.
Sometimes it is best to cut loose from something - maybe that would be something to consider? Even at a small loss? Some things aren't worth the aggravation and you have to ask yourself if it is worth the aggravation and if this is the hill you want to die on. I don't think you would have any trouble unloading a JP model - they seem to be in high demand.
FWIW - I have a couple of chambered guitars and one in particular resonates like crazy in the neck and body - even the fixed bridge and tuning machines - but I happen to like it a good deal - to each his own.

First of all, Thanks for all the ideas, and help- like I said before I'm totally impressed with the amount of customer service from everyone, and again I'm sorry for the rant...
I told AJ that I was giving up, and that I was even quitting guitar, but having played for the last 28 years ( O.K., so not so much these last few months ) I'm not going down without a fight- I really do believe that this is the end all be all of guitars- It has to be. I'm headed to a guitar store and buying every set of strings I can find, and try every set up, with every trick mentioned here. I've moved the amp, plugged directly into the damn thing, I've got a hair band ready, the piece of foam is in place, and the fluorescent lights, and fan will stay off-

jt we really need to shut this down. With all due respect the start was bad and I know you ahave corrected it...but right now this is just not going anywhere....Drum City has bent over backwards, so has my sc...we dont make a guitar that works for you so lets stop the conversation
