Do you notice more hum from your Sterling in series mode then from parallel or singel coil mode?

Obviously, you are very concerned about this...you've started 2 threads here already and one on TB for the same issue. No, hum is not normal. I'm sure you've already eliminated all variables other than the bass by plugging it into a different amp in a different location using a different cable...so hopefully that is out of the way and we can move on.

The way I see it, you have 3 options:

You can keep digging on the internet and hope to discover a miracle solution from someone who can't even see, hold, or hear your bass and end up with about a dozen solutions that aren't going to solve your problem.

You can take it to a local tech and hope that he can find the problem and correct it...it's a shot.

You can call EB CS...they will probably ask you to send them the bass. I know that in your mind this is not the solution that you are hoping for and that it sucks to have to ship your bass anywhere, but if there is a problem with your bass they will fix it and fix it right and you will have your bass back in less time than it will take you to discover a solution on your own.

Errr.... as I see this, there was no suggestion that there is a problem with the bass but a question whether it is normal to have more hum with one setting than the other. Since I don't own no more Sterlings, and my memory of how they were ten years ago is somehow a little bit blurry, I can't answer. Someone with a Sterling could do a check with their's...

My SR5 has 2 series settings and 1 parallel setting. There is no hum with either series setting.
