I just got a phone call from my local music store. There's a 114-28-21-01 waiting for me. It will be a tough day at work...

in Hell... with cows...
i reckon thats the ordering number. instrument number + options and such. i think this years price list has them visible.

he just got his 4 string stingray with 2 buckers, rosewood matching. just can´t figure out what that 28 is =)

EDIT: 28 is a desert gold. i didnt find it because it´s discontinued.stumbled upon it in dargins thread. and the 01 is actually a black pickguard, not the body color.

Got on the way home early (14.30-ish ;)) and right to the store... where I opened the case and saw Desert Gold in person for the first time ever. I literally screamed out of excitement!! The shop owner took some pics while I was totally absorbed with my new bass:

Desert Gold must be the best colour ever! Unfortunately for those not owning one yet it's discontinued. But I'm happy to have ordered one just before the window closed! Many thanks to Beth who helped me greatly with this order, and naturally to Sterling Ball for making these hilariously great sounding and looking instruments!

Great picture Oli! You have been on quite the buying spree lately, and I thought I was bad. I just have one on order!

I hope you enjoy it. It really does look cool. I have not seen one up close, but I think your picture is the best representation of it that I have seen.

Thanks for sharing!

Reminds somewhat of redrise, which in fact is the best colour ever. DG comes a close second I think...

That looks seriously cool, with the matching headstock especially. You swooped in just in time!

Thank you everybody for your kind words!

hehe.. the amp youre using.. is that the mini mini mini mark? :D :p

Yep. Prototype ;)... fact is: My local music store is very small and focused on flutes, pianos and cheap guitars. They neither have any bass or bass amp in the store. Nor had they ever heard of EBMM before I ordered mine. And it was definitely the most expensive electric guitar ordered at their store. Ever. :)

Great picture Oli! You have been on quite the buying spree lately, and I thought I was bad. I just have one on order!

You still are bad ;) ... it's a bit of a conincidence how the basses came in during this month... I've ordered the Desert Gold in February and was told it would be in my hands end of May. When it didn't show up in time, I fetched a SR 4 HS in Lava Pearl from eBay to take with me on tour to the Philippines. After that there was the announcements of new colours, which had me mulling over changing my order to one of the new colours. Beth helped me with some more infos on the colours and I stuck with my original choice, but opted for a change from HS to HH. That seemed to have delayed the order even more, and I was informed by the Swiss distributor that my bass would not arrive "before the end of the year". Hence I developed severe GAS for an SR4 HH, and I found that gorgeus white one on Craigslist. Since I've always loved white basses since when I started out playing, I just had to get it. And now, just two weeks later, my SR 4HH DG finally arrives!

That looks awesome! I think a vintage white pearloid guard would look sweet on that, a bit of new and old ;)

Guess what I already have on order? ;)

you're about to lose control and you think you'll like it?

I am a control freak, but this time, I really enjoyed it! Tremendously :D

I love matching headstocks!

So do I! Of all my 'Rays, only the 20th Anniversary has a maple neck with non-matching headstock.

...and it was love at first sight. I'm so happy you've gotten your bass, Oli! Congratulations and enjoy!!!

THANKS TO YOU!

oli, we all know that you're a ray whore
so what colour's next?

None planned.

Really.

There's some off brand models I'd like to get as well, and there might be something stealth in my future. And naturally, we're all eagerly awaiting the 25th Anniversary bass.

My intention was that this would me my last StingRay... for a while... but then there's a black/black late '80s fretless on eBay I'm watching, and that Sterling Silver might be the just insane under stage lights. And I might be tempted to get an HH Dargie, if one shows up...

However, I have too many 'Rays (that's a fact, not an opinion ;)) and I will sell some of them. But this, the white, and the Dargie will not be on that list.

Don't forget to return those shoes to the bowling alley.

That's all you saw in those pictures?! I'm sure if I'd posted a pic of a naked girl with a bass, all you'd see would be the girl! I'm disappointed in you! ;)
