I've been using my Sub tuned to D-drop C quite a bit and the stock pup doesn't quite have the grunt I want. It's a bit too crisp & toppy for the tunes that I use it for...and she goes microphonic on me at gig volume(in some rooms).

Anybody put a TZ in theirs?

Yeah, the TZ will power it up for sure!!

However, to me, the TZ doesn't have a lot of personality, just sheer power and punch. So, in that sense it's a great choice for the drop.

EXACTLY what I thought....

I've had one sitting in the parts drawer for a year cuz I didn't like it in my Hamers.
I FINALLY have a weekend free so I can swap 'em :D

The Tone Zone was too muddy sounding in the guitars I've tried with it. I suggest the D Sonic or the Bare Knuckle Miracle Man (or something similar).

My experience exactly. I tried 2 different T.Z.'s in 3 different guitars over about 8 years. The tone I always got was too hot, too flabby/muddy, no character.

There are people who love that pickup but I can't recommend it to anyone.

I have two subs. I have an eveolution in the bridge of each one. On I have dropped tuned to C. It's very rich, lots of harmonics and very tasty for me!!
