HELP!

Guys,
I've just taken over another team it's one of those promotions where you get more hassle, more stress but no more money!

In previous years, they've had parties with bands etc, but now withthe UK money being worth nowt - it's one of the girls who's been trained as a pro singer, and me! - we're planning doing the Leona Lewis and Jimmy page version of whole lotta love and a few others...

Any tips, it's just me and a singer in a 1st floor office of a buiding made of aluminum with walls made of paper, you can hear people go to the toilet at the opposite end of the building if you're quiet enough...

Should I take an AL or or my Luke??? or axis it up? - any advice on small portable battery powered amps and backing tracks?? -have you guys ever had to explain to your co workers why you always look at the forum during the day and have no money but a house full of guitar cases???

This could go very wrong! - worried already.

For Zep numbers it has to be the Axis. The Roland Microcube is the best of the battery powered amps...

FREE Guitar Backing Tracks has lots of free to download mp3 backing tracks, you can then play the backing through the 'cube if you want to...

+1.

Either the micro cube or the newish Line 6 version. The amps are small, powerful, and portable. You could either download the aforementioned backing tracks or find somebody with a stash of karaoke CDs and play them through a portable CD/Mp3 player through the line in on the amp. Some of these amps have XLR ins so you could run a mic at the same time. Is there a music store near you that would let you rent/borrow a floor model for the day?

Good luck rocking!

Slayer is always a great choice for office holiday parties...

umm all the way up in Inverness - gotta be about 600 miles away.

I don't think I can now manage to lugg 4 x 12's up seedy little alleyways and up vertical flights of stairs - and that's just leaving my house !!

Smelly

Go with any guitar as only you will appreciate it's quality.

I assume your singer will not be mic'd so you don't want to drown her out.

The Roland amp is a good choice but any small amp is going to do the job. AS Simon Cowell would say it's about choosing the right song(s).

Think of a few numbers for audience participation. Let's face it, someone else will want to sing. They're usually the drunk ones who are tone deaf so you need a crowd to drown em out.

Have a good one!

So Smelly... are your minions aware that for thier christmas entertainment they're getting to see the boss play with his Balls :p

you should be more concerned that I make them watch!

Thanks all for the suggestions, Marshall weren't keen to send me stuff to Inverness for free (didn't make it past reception!)

I'll go with my BFR and a Marshall MS-2 I think.... and a tubescreamer for boosts! we have plasma screens on the wall with speakers, so I'll pump the backing tracks through there and setup powerpoint to run the lyrics!
