Just wanted to post a quick intro, I'm actually a guitar player but been fiddling around with the idea of picking up bass. Well due to circumstances, our bassist left and wanting to record bass lines for my own stuff, i just pulled the trigger on a Stingray HH. I gotta wait for a few days till it comes in, but any tips, tricks, or any general advice?

Thanks

Charlie

You're not a bass player, and ordered one of the best basses in the known universe? Just be careful, playing it might become addictive. And it will try to assimilate you.

i was wondering when someone would bring that fact up... I've been playing guitar for a while, and finally got onto the USA/Boutique kick... I have no problems shelling out the money for quality.... However I got an email today saying my bass is back ordered till 09.... This royally sucks... Now i have a couple options... either down grade to the single Hum version or upgrade to the 5 string.

+1, go to a guitar center or two, from what i understand there's an abundance of them and they all regularly seem to stock plenty of EBMM gear sometimes at stupid prices. I wish the same could be said for shops over here :(

Actually GC is where I ordered it from... Said they were in stock, but they had to get it from the warehouse... I got an email this morning saying it's back ordered. I called them up the manager said he'd look into it and see what they could do to resolve the problem, and give me a call back. So i'm anxiously waiting..

Honestly i didn't even plan on getting the HH, I was just looking at a 4 or 5 string SR with the single humbucker.

but it's one of those things where I really can't wait till feb 09 for.

Also wouldn't be the first time a minor set back has happened either. I went to an open house and picked out some wood, and the would naturally had a unique pattern to it, where it got darker. I wanted the darker part as the center seam and when they put the top on the body they did the opposite.. The guitar i ended up with is now my favorite.

If you can, then stick with the HH by all means. The H at the bridge will get you the classic StingRay sound, but there's so many more options in the four other positions. The HH is really a great combination. The HS isn't bad either, but to me, the HH is more useful in live settings.

Excuse the ignorance, but can a bass that's 'in stock' be back ordered??

+1 on mynan, get on the perfect bass website and order something from there, if they say something is in stock, it's in stock! Plus they have some SWEET new colours in right now from what i understand.

EDIT: they have a totally kickass looking ray HH in orange firemist!!! I wish i could buy it :(

elusive is correct... The perfect bass site is cool, i'll have to remember it next time... I like the fact that they have many options with the matching headstock... I love that feature. The Orange firemist is cool, but it's got a maple board. Personally i'm partial to rosewood... trivial i know.

again,

Thanks for you all for your help... I just want to get something a bass into my hands soon....

Give me a call @ 866-823-2255 ext 123. Guitar Center can get you a rosewood HH sooner than 09.

I really hope that I'm never in a position to need this kind of service, but this kind of service is the reason I'll never buy a bass that doesn't say "made in SLO" on the back of the headstock.

ps: the hh´s are wonderful axes! the sounds you have in your arsenal makes it a lot more versatile than the standard h. dont get me wrong, i love those too, but when you need versatility youre better off with just that ;)

wow, I hope I didn't start anything bad... the Local GC is taking care of it. They cancelled the order and are getting me a 5string SR H, and they're trying to rush it here for monday.
