just wondering, might try and buy a pair of EB strap locks so i don't have to use my clip on my y2d even tho i put electrical tape around the clips to prevent scratching.

do you guys have any pics of your trap locks on your guitars? thanks.;)

the EB strap lock buttons are no different to normal buttons and will not scratch your guitar. I have them on all my guitars including my Y2D's.

Here are a few pictures - the actual button that is on the guitar is the same size as the original strap pin. BTW - they work fabulous.

Do you have to take the old strap holders out of the guitar and replace them with the strap locks? Or do the strap locks attach to the original holders?

Yes my friend, you need to completely remove the original strap buttons together with their fitting screw, keep it in a box save for when you need to sell the isntrument and keep yor price strap locks for the new instriment, then fit the strap locks with their (longer) screws, one part goes to the isntrument the other to the strap.

You fit the longer end with the screw to the instrument and then secure the pop in part to the strap. Then you marry the two and clunk-fit the strap end with the instrument end. To release the strap after playing there is a release mechanism on the strap lock that you push in and then the strap can be removed.

Some forumites kept the original screws so no drilling...I'll let you know how I get on!

I still would like to see these fitted as standard to EBMM guitars, an obvious and desirable improvement.

There has to be a valid reason for Ernie Ball to make the strap lock screws longer, and people that keep the original shorter screw do so at their own risk, in fact the shorter screw will not fasten the new strap locks with enough depth as it is required. If the screw is not deep enough there is a chance that this will begin to lean in the direction of the strap pull and could cause more damage to the screw hole.

There is a video that explains everything here :
http://www.ernieball.com/demo/

Just select the video called Super Locks Installation

 is this new or have i been dumb and not payin attention?!?!?!?
really cool!
:)

Edit: well now i have second thoughts, well the reason is, drilling? i really don't want to have to drill into my guitar. but i guess i can have my local music store tech do it.
