Sorry if this has been addressed already - but I was just on the Ernie Ball main site and saw that the Wonder Wipe Instrument Polish is listed in the Discontinued Product area. String Cleaner and Fretboard Conditioner are in the Instrument Care area.

What's up with the Instrument Polish?

Hey Eggman, I think I have read it somewhere on this forum that one of the EBMM staff already stated that the absence of these products from their website is only temporary and will be reappearing soon.

I recently bought a large cannister of instrument polish:eek:

What was wrong with them? Are they safe to use on my bass?

Thanks for the info. Glad to know it will be back - cuz I like how it works.

BP - believe it or not - I played about 6 rounds in November out here. Weather has been great. I am going skiing on Saturday and playing golf on Sunday. Should be in the 60s. I love Colorado!!

BTW - I will be in the Indian Wells area 1/7 to 1/11. The weather out there looked great for the LG Skins game

No more big canisters? well that a major bummer. I use those things like crazy on my customers instruments, not to mention my own.
Buying them in those little containers is not going to be cost effective in that sence.
I'll have to go back to my own mixture and cloths.

I do have a question, is the container sealing going to be something that's addressed?
I tend to put the WW's in sealable baggies so they don't dry out in the dispensers (either size).

Well I think you have put the finger on the spot there, if I use my logic I can only assume that the reason why the large containers have been discontinued in favour of the small ones is probably because the wipes tend to dry out much quicker with the tube being so large (when they are half full), in fact I am pretty certain, because we use a similar container for our computer screens wipes and they are useless if you leave them closed for a week after you have opened them. So either you use them all at once when they are still "fresh" or you might as well throw them away when older than a couple of weeks.

And the best solution would be to buy 2 or 3 of the small containers at a time. Hopefully someone in the know from Ernie Ball can confirm or shed some more light.

Naw, the little ones dry out faster actually. Those I open and baggie as well. Which reminds me of another bummer. The little canisters wipes are smaller, = more needed per instrument.

I bought a baby wipe dispenser (rectangle style), cleaned it out and put WW's in there. Works great and no dry outs going on 3 weeks.

Yes, I would really like to have an answer about this from someone who works at ernie ball too, to be absolutely sure that they are not harmful.

Don't worry guys, there is nothing harmful about the existing wipes out in circulation. The main issue on the large cannister is that they were drying out. Our factory is in the desert and during the summer months they are subjected to extreme heat at times during the inbound or outbound shipping. Just adding more solution wouldn't solve it as then other times of year you would have a wipe so saturated you couldn't use it on your instrument. Also, most gigging musicians prefer the smaller can as they fit in their gig bag or case while the large ones do not. The larger cans are more ideal for the shop owners, but these are really marketed for the players. We have a few things that you'll see or hear about at the 2009 NAMM show next month. You'll still get the same bang for your buck with higher customer satisfaction! Stay tuned!

I tried contacting Ernie Ball to get some answers since I use this product a lot on my guitars and I couldn't get an answer other than they would try help obtain some left over product from one of their dealers. I ordered and received four large canisters last week. The dealers that have this product on back order are telling me the following which has me really worried:

"The reason that I was given was that they were having problems with the product. They would not tell me the exact extent of the problems but I was led to believe that it had something to do with potential damage to finishes of instruments."
