So, we had a club gig Saturday and everything is going fine and all the sudden I hear this loud crashing sound. Turns out this disappointingly familiar fellow has fallen off his stool and over the sub, onto my monitor knocking my mic stand over onto me and thus... onto the guitar. Everything seems fine. But, it's been finals week and I didn't get the guitar out of the case this week. Bad guitar player, I know... but... I had four finals to study for and three papers to write.

So, yesterday our choir does a fundraiser and I'm asked to play guitar. I get it out to look it over and I feel something I've never felt before..."WHAT?!!!?? A dislodged fret?!?!?!!" I frantically take a look and no... not a burred fret, a centimeter in diameter chip down to the fretboard wood on the top of the neck... and another huge dent next to it..... "This is impossible.. I have not let this guitar out of my sight since I got it...!!!" I check the case to see if something was loose in there and to look for chips of paint and wood... nothing.
"What the he.... Oh crap!!!"

So yeah, the bass player for a signed band is so drunk he can't sit on his stool and after a quick call to customer service, I realize he's just cost me 400 dollars plus shipping.

I won't say his name lest he be willing to pay for this... or maybe his label???... but when I get a hold of him, he's going to know I'm not happy.

The thing that makes me mad is... this is one of the few that the purple matches on the headstock. It's perfect. Now, they're doing the black and I've lost this very fortunate situation. :(

I know they can't, but I wish they could send me the neck back so I can hang it on the wall with a plaque... "This is your guitar on booze."

Nightmare.

When I put a major ding in a treasured acoustic of mine I was gutted; had it been due to the carelessness of someone else, i'd have raged!!!!

I know this won't help in any way, but the notion of the black headstock on the Amethest Burst sounds very special in itself.

Think of it as an unexpected refret.

Still doesn't help, fella :(

Arrggh! I once had a drunk drummer of mine scratch the face of one of my axes with his hardware when he was packing up, good thing it was a strat!:p

I learned to never to play out with my new and unmarked guitars, especially when you got a nut-job, jumping around bass player, who likes to bang headstocks together, another arghh! You should see my red Axis.

Sorry about what happened to your BFR. Maybe you could use the down time to pick up a player Pet off of eBay or something if you have the means.

I was just looking at the guitar and I realized the saddest part... the rosewood has these beautiful blond streaks in it. I don't know think it's very likely that anything new will have anything like this. I'm ridiculously bummed about this. :(

Oh, and Ernie... I don't have the means. I'm on a play what you got budget. I don't mind this thing getting play wear. I mind it getting damaged to the point of affecting the playability.

No one in my band drinks more than a drink, and one guy drinks a couple of beers, but he's Tiny... a nickname not given for it's literal reference. LOL A couple of us never drink anything... I don't drink anyway, but the professionalism of this band is such a blessing for me to be involved with.

It's frustrating because a guy in a touring band on a label should know better... Now I'm going to lose the best looking rosewood fretboard I've ever seen. :(

I would demand satisfaction and challenge that guy to a duel.

Pistols at dawn.

If it makes you feel any better, if you do end up sending it to us to replace the neck, we will replace it the way you had it. So you will still get the matching headstock....

Awesome... now... any chance you still have the slab of rosewood that my fretboard came from? LOL I'm sitting here staring at it... it's so purty. :(

I let our sound man/keyboard player/backup guitarist play it last night for a little What Child is This arrangement he played for the fundraiser... he handed it to me when he was done and said "That is the best playing guitar I've ever played in my life." LOL I was like.. "Yeah, that's why except for replacing the stolen JPM with another one, the only guitars I've bought have been Music Mans for the last several years." LOL Now he's looking at ebay for a Sillouette or something in the 8 to 900 dollar range. LOL I told him to consider a used SUB if he wants a really inexpensive guitar that is expensive guitar quality in playability. This is with a big ole chunk out of hte neck that the BFR got such praise and started a conversion process. LOL

I really hope this band keeps going well and takes off... I REALLY need to get a Music Man endorsement... I need about 20 of these things. lol

Mass quantities of alcohol are proven to dull the senses,.....no-one wants to go to a show to hear music performed by immensely intoxicated musician,...unless maybe it was Dimebag. Getting totally wasted and playing a show is usually a disgrace to the musician and a dis-service to the listener.

Sorry about your Axe.

I've had worse luck with mine. (And I am not talking about my guitars. )

Dude, you do have some tough luck when it comes to those JP guitars. Man, I told you to keep your eye on it. I am convinced that EB will make it alright. Sucks for the added inconvenience and expense though.
