nasty little screws

Greetings.Just acquired a beautiful late 90s axis sport.It has the same bridge as the sil special and has a really super sound..But I find that the bridge tears the hell out of my strumming hand..slight exaggeration,but it is irritating...I replced these pieces on my sil sp with Graphtec parts,and it changed the tone,but solved the scratching prob.I want to keep the tone I have..any easy fixes out there.Tx.

Are you tearing up your hand on the saddle height screws? I had that problem on a Silo Special. The screws come in three different lengths, and choosing the closest length for each string eliminated the problem for me. They're all close to flush now.

The technical term for those things is "bugger screws." A bugger screw is any tiny little screw that causes annoyance, usually by being so small that it's very easy to lose, thus causing the user to say "oh, bugger."

They're closely related to the Jesus spring. The Jesus spring is a small spring inside every mechanism that, when the mechanism is taken apart, invariably launches itself unexpectedly into oblivion, thus causing the user to say "Jesus!"

Does sound like it's the saddle screws. You can order them in different sizes from EBMM so you can have them at exactly the right height but not have them protrude from the top of the saddles. Just one of those setup things.

I had a couple of fishing reels with Jesus springs. They were buggers too!

If you are handy with a Dremel, you can grind each of the saddle screws down to the right height so that they are flush with the top of the saddle. I'd remove them from the saddle first!

Ok.....I need a term for this.
My bass player didn't show up today, so I did his 1 bar intro....then my own 4 bar intro, then the acoustic player/singer comes in.......but instead of this....comes in at some random time during my 4 bar intro. I need a word for this. (I plan to yell it if he does it tomorrow).
