you are not far off here.....I've always had an "on again/off again" love affair with Strats. I've owned 3 USA Strats and 1 MIM Strat in the last 12 years. After having one for awhile, I always found something lacking there. Always loved the neck pup (sort of my my favorite position), but the singles just don't do distortion all that well (matter of opinion here).

I find the MM90's to be almost the perfect pickup. They are a touch bright, but coming from someone used to Strats.....they are fantastic! Every day I'm digging them more. What don't they do?

Axis Sport with MM90's just may be the ultimate guitar (for me). Trem would be nice though.

Luv, yah see I tend to love the MM hardtails, but this new Sport I snagged a few months back has a trem. I'm a pretty bad player and can't/don't use a trem, hence the reason I tend to prefer hardtails.

But I love this new one and have no want to let it go. I personally think that the Sports just don't get the credit that they deserved, they are excellent guitars for the $$ and they seem to fetch less than Axis and ASS'es.

yea, I usually just spring it up real tight and use it for some wobble here and there....helps to create the illusion that I'm actually playing something.

Does anybody know how thick this adhesive vinyl is?

Not sure about the thickness of the decals, but good luck, I think you should still leave them man, work that you won it for best in show man, Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Jack not an Axis Super Sport, just an Axis Sport, but the dude still got a wicked deal.

I find the prices on the Axis Sports to be a lot lower than those of the ASS'es.

First off - what an insane price!! That neck is fantastic.

My opinion for what it is worth - leave the guitar as it is and either get a "road dog" cheap Axis
(and you seem well qualified in tracking down cheap EB's) and bolt the neck on that one.

Maybe consider getting something like this -

They peel on/off so easily.

Keep the guitar body as it is - could become a real collector in the years to come.

Man, I just don't know yet. I'll pm Axilla and see what effect, if any, that adhesive topsheet had on his guitar. Strangely enough, I'm starting to get used to these graphics. I bet if I played in the mirror I might think differently.

By the way, thanks everyone for all the input and suggestions. Nice to get some feedback from some people that appreciate the finest guitars on the planet! Even BP chimned in......how cool is that?

Man, for that price I would refinish it! You can have ANY FINISH YOU WANT!! I love my Mystic Dream so I would highly recommend some variant of that finish. I never get tired of it! Just make sure a Pro does it. You'll have a killer neck and a finish that matches your still. Even a metallic white with a blue pearl coat would be classy and have some unique characteristics to it. The possibilities are endless!!! I'm envious....
