I own an Axis SS hard tail,...and will eventually purchase another. I am strictly a hard tail player, being very meticulous as to stay in tune and prefer the advantages of the hard tail for that reason over the added advantages and disadvantages of a trem. The trem on the Axis SS is a classic one and not a floating trem, and looks like it might not be as demanding as say the Axis Sport. Do any of you own both an Axis SS Hard tail and an Axis SS trem....? How well does the Axis SS trem stay in tune compared to the Axis SS har-tail? Thanks.

I don't have an Axis - but have the same trem on my ALs.
One of my AL's is set up floating the other set up with 3 springs and flush to the body.
They are very good and very stable indeed.
EB have nailed the trem - it is so stable and what with no string windings on the peg posts (locking tuners) they just stay in tune.
I'm sure Axis owners will be along soon!!

Yeah, it is really hard for me to give up tunig stability,....I hate spending more time tuning than playing...

The Floyd still is the best trem I've ever found for staying in tune. I just think the nut has to be locking for it to be completely dependable, but I know most here would disagree with me. I'm going hardtails these days only because the Axis body isn't routed behind the Floyd, which makes it almost useless to my particular playing.
All that said, the Axis Hardtail is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. Just perfect, even without a trem.

I've owned bith, and haven't noticed a huge difference in tuning stability. If the trem is set flush, and the locking tuners are locked/have the minimum of winds around them, then the trem is just as stable as the hardtail.
I've had more trouble with the Floyded Axis's tuning stability than I have had with a ASS with vintage trem.
