This is one of my bands playing at a school thing.

Other venues we play are never quite as well recorded or have video like this, so I thought I would share this with you!

We are playing '9 to 5' by the awesome Dolly Parton.

good song choice btw...I'm not a country fan but I do play in a country band...I guess it has grown on me

I'm not really a country fan either, but this is just a great track. Actually before I was on with this band I was with my 'other' band, playing Rage.

Stingray is versatile. That's what we have learnt today.

that's pretty cool, thanks for sharing it. Like Oli said, watching other knuckleheads is always fun.

while, I'll have to diagree on the awesomeness of Dolly, that song or that movie.. I will say that it's a great job of this cover tune.

the singer's sound in the mix is thin... needs some effects to make her sound fuller... and personally I think you're playing ahead of the pocket a tad... but so is the drummer... keep in mind... I'm really a drummer that tries to play bass (and this is just my personal preference...)

p.s. nice bass sound ;)

Yeah, I tried to get the soundguys to do something about it but their reaction was 'Look mate, David Bowie didn't complain when we did his sound' and I just thought 'hmmmm yeah, thats why you're in a school doing sound for young bands for free'

I have told him off for that a few times. You would think that being a grade 7 drummer he could tighten up a bit. He is very good though, some sweet beats going on. I didn't notice any faults in myself, but that's probably why those faults are there.

One of our drummers in Jazz Lab is like that.

My nickname for him is speedy. :)

Great track, and great looking Stingray, btw. You guys sound really good.

My last band, before I went country, was a hard rockin' band that covered rage as well...I got a killer video clip somewhere of us rockin' KILLING IN THE NAME OF all you see is the crowd going nuts...

yes, the stingray works for everything:D

Another clip...

Complete with an awful piano solo...I really do not know what happened there, he is usually immense. He plays trumpet and trombone too, pretty talented.

Notice the lack of guitar at the beginning. Shocking sound guys.

lol oh dear!! I feel sorry for the piano guy. Oh and when the geetar finally came alive it was like a headbutt! lol It's amazing what happens in a live performance sometimes. Still you held a solid bassline, the singer was ok, the winds were fine too, you won't believe this but I doubt if half the audience would have noticed it anyway. Good man

He had one if those rare lucid moments of complete clarity... unfortunately the dull reality kicked in again right after the second note... ;) ... been there, fubared like that! I never understood how it can happen, but it does: Everything feels alright, you're in the mood but slightly nervous, the solo approaches, you take off, hit the first wrong note, and crash land having no clue what happened, what key this song is in, and why that damned mixolydian scale does not fit the song today!

Please, do the guy a favor, especially if he's good otherwise, either fade out the song before the solo or remove it from YouTube.

Haha, yes we will fade it out. He used these recordings as part of his portfolio for music technology at university, and he faded out before the solo.

As soon as drummers new kit arrives we'll have plenty more gig recordings (at the moment he has no kit, just a rack with lots of cymbals).

Maybe we should start a thread of gig videos/recordings? That would be fun.
