Incoming EBMM and reshuffle

Because I have some upcoming expenses later this year, involving legalising my domestic arrangements, last week I sold a couple of "high end" and collectible non-EBMM basses ('66 Precision, Steinberger XL2AD) to generate some cash, and have replaced them with two less pricey but very giggable basses that I'll feel more comfortable taking to bar gigs.

So, I'm now Fenderless for the first time since 1996(?), although I do own 3 of Bill Nash's lovely instruments.

Incoming to the Musicman side of my stable is a HH SR4, my first foray into the dual pickup Stingray world. Looking forward to digging this one ....

Believe me, I wrestled with the idea of selling the '66 Fender for several months, and while it would have been nice to hold onto it for another 20 years as an investment, I had to be practical and realistic. I mean, I've been playing bass for 35 years, and during that time the number of basses I've kept for 20 years is ....... nada.

At the end of the day, it was nice to own a '66 P bass, and it certainly played like butter and sounded great. But did it play or sound 3 or 4 times as nice as a Stingray (or a Bill Nash)? No way!

Yes, I think so. There's a HS in the same color scheme on eBay at the moment that is already up to $925 with 4 days to go, so I think $999 was a good deal.

Hey Mark you beat me to the punch on that one. I went so far as inquiring about that very bass myself last week, but hesitated on two fronts (the crappy state of our dollar, but more particularly a general inability to justify the purchase to the domestic treasurer). Good luck to you.

From memory it's not the first time we've both kicked the tyres of the same bass

In relation to the dodgy Aussie dollar, my excuse is that I was cashed up from selling the '66, and even after buying the SR4 HH I still have enough to buy a new fridge (not Ampeg) and a piece of jewelry with a bit of hard carbon attached. Even with our poor exchange rate, $999 is still a good deal I'd say.
