Hate the GLX series. Like was said above, very brittle. It is a good price but I think you will find it very harsh. IMO.

whilst off topic, let me take another detour:

Compressor Pedals

If you have a Mark Bass CMD102P and you are happy using a compressor pedal can you please tell me which one are you using? I am also looking for a decent compressor, because I like a tight P-style sound, thanks again in advance for your feedback.

Off topics and detours are my "forte", I have a question for BP as I feel only he can answer this right:

Q.: how comes you have a Stingray 20th Anniversary, then a 30th anniversary a couple of years ago and now you have a 25th anniversary with the new NAMM semi-hollow guitars and basses. I am not getting the anniversary succession thing from 20th to 30th and then down to 25th?

Thanks for that too BP

EB buys MM...1984 + 25 = 2009...25th anniversary bass
SR4 introduction...1976 + 30 = 2006...30th anniversary SR4
SR5 introduction...1987 + 20 = 2007...20th anniversary SR5

I have the 410 version of that cabinet; it sounds good to me, just need to cut the high mids to get a smooth sound.

I have no intention of making a lifetime use from it, but it'll do what I want it to until I'm ready (financially) to move on to better things.

It sounds nice with my WT 330.

Edit: noticed your compression post. The WT 330 I'm using has a nice compressor--could be worth looking into, maybe to see if there is a similar pedal.

Thanks all for the above 2 replies, the Anniversary thing now makes full sense to me, and the cab / compressor I will look into the suggestion made.

Cheers

I had a 410 under mine for a while and it works, but you can tell that the 2 10s in the combo are working harder than the 4 10s in the ext cab. I also had a 115 under it and wasn't thrilled. I would try a 112. I love the combination of my 410 and 212.

I use a BBE Opto Stomp compressor. It's probably not as versatile as a lot of others out there, but it's smooth and adds just enough compression without getting obnoxious. I don't normally use it with my Bongo, but I like it with my SR5.

If you can find any ampeg portabass cabinets give them a try. I have used the 1-12 and now a 2-10 and they are incredible. Very light weight and very 5 & 6 string friendly.

Eden's site says that the compressor in the WT405 is a "dbx style compressor with adjustable threshold." The WT330 I'm using is a sister head, so I'd guess it's the same.

As for what exactly a dbx compressor is.... that's going on my lookup list.

It's pretty transparent, at least as far as I can tell with my cabs.... not the highest quality speaker equipment. But, the compressor, I like. Alot.

The little I know about amps tells me that with a 4x10 and your 102p, the tens in the box would work harder because they would be getting more power; the load would not be evenly distributed.

mynan's experience seems to confirm this.

Have you gone to a shop and tried some stuff? What do you like?
