Cool used SR4

I was my local GC today and saw a Purple SR4 with matching headstock and PICKUPCOVER. I know I am not as knowledge and many of you here but I have only seen black and white. This was a neat purple color. Not that I would want to run out and play with it as it doesn't fit my style.

Just thought I'd pass it along.

That trans-purple finish was discontinued years ago. (Which of course means we all adore it - now.)

Had an SR5 in that finish.......ah, the memories.

How much did they want for the SR4?

I think it had a tag of $995 or something close to that (definitely between 900-999). Like I said, it was cool, to me, if it wouldn't be my main bass. The sales guy joked that it was brought in by Prince.

Also, while I was there I asked how much room they can move on the price and was told that GC was bought out and the new company passed word down that they can not negotiate at all any more? Has anyone else heard this?

They were talking about having fixed prices, we were discussing it here too, don't know what happened with that.
I wasn't able to get any additional discount in January when buying $200 of strings either, and that was a first, so maybe there is something to the story?

Incidentally this is for sale as a second hand in my local shop, but I think the owners wants a bit too much for it, its a 2003 model, he is asking for £950 pounds equivalent to $1364.

It's been in that shop for almost a year... plays really nice though

The one I am referring to must be the pearly purple also because the grain wasn't visible. But is the matching pup cover stock as well?
