Hi, i'm new here (just registered to get some information about this guitar)

I have a hi-end Peavey guitar (USA Limited ST) on sale, and someone is offering me a guitar like this as a trade.
It's the guitar that was posted in this thread (the dutch guitar with black pickguard and EMG's)

My questions:

- I was told it is an 'Silo Special', but the headstock just says 'Silo' : what are the main differences between them (just the trem? Mine is a hardtail)
- How about this sparkle finish: was it some limited ed.? Were they only made in a specific year?
- Personally, i don't care to much about EMG's, i've had them before, but i prefer passive pickups: how hot are the original pickups?

- Any idea how much a Silo like this would do on Ebay?

Strange: for some reason i did see a pic from the modded Silo, but after registering it seems to be gone?

Thanks for your answers

Zeppo - Currently, EBMM makes a Silhouette (HSH, 24 frets, hardtail or vintage trem) and a Silhouette Special (SSH or SSS, 22 frets, hardtail or vintage trem).

However, if the guitar you are interested in is older than 1995 or so, it could have Silhouette on the headstock but still have 22 frets and SSH. Bottom line is that the Silhouette and Silhouette Special are very similar, but there are some subtle differences with the configuration.

On Ebay, depending upon age and condition, used Silos can go from $700-1200.

I perfer the passive Pickups as well. One forumer, NorM has added EMGs to several of his Silos, so perhaps he may chime in and tell you why.

BTW, if you do get the Silo, we will definitely need to see some pics. ;)

The finish was not intended to be limited edition, but sparkle finishes were quickly cut due to poor sales. The autumn redburst finish is a pretty rare bird with only four silhouettes ever being made in that finish. There seems to be more silhouette specials floating around in this finish, but still not too many. Does that have a bearing on the price? Yes and no. It depends entirely on the buyer and if the rarity of the finish is enough to make them open their wallets. So to get top dollar you'd have to find the right buyer at the right time.
