The pickups don't look so bad, maybe it sounds pretty good. But that knob (or whatever it is) just below the strings looks like it would really get in the way.

I honestly think it would have actually been better with a single coil (non P-90) in the neck position and without that extra knob.

The knobs are all volume knobs, one for each pickup. Here's the link to the gallery page. I'm supposing it is a reversible mod.

no matter how it looks - if it sounds good to the one who modded it - fine. I don´t like the look too, but who matters if it gives all the sounds he wanted.
I dont´want to imagine your comments about Morse´s Franken-Tele if it would not be from him?

I dont like the look either,but I committed the sacrilege of modding one of my Silo's into a Tele and I have no plans to change that back. If he likes it ,all power to him.
