I'm right near a river and also by a cemetary where deer like to come and eat all the flowers that people left. It's fun to see them in the early morning hours. Plenty of wild turkeys roam the neighborhood, and lots of birds and owls, but nothing dangerous.

Fingbeagles, I know what you mean. As a kid I grew up in Carrolton in a newly developed area not too far from the airport and we'd see them a lot. Coyotes too.

No. You cannot legally hunt mountain lions in Colorado. In fact, if one were attacking your dog right in front of you, you can't even legally kill it. You can only kill one if it is attacking your "livestock" or a person. So if a mountain lion is attacking a chicken that you have on a farm...it's legal to kill the cat. Your dog or cat...you're out of luck. Strange law, since most people consider their pets part of the family.

In Idaho you can hunt them legally. I was hunting in Idaho many years ago and a mountain lion was part of the hunt package. Honestly, I see no reason to "hunt" one (my personal preference) and I saw quite a few out there.

How many people die every year with wild animals attacks ?
How many people die every day in car accident ?

A drunken driver or a guy who does not understand speed limits are far more dangerous than a big cat ...
People who own firearms are also far more dangerous that a wild bear.

I've done alot of gold panning out in the yonder hills on rivers here and there. One day I was sitting there on the edge of a local river panning out some gravel and this strange feeling came over me..... like someone or something was watching me. I shifted and turned and was greeted by a rather large lion staring at me from around 20 feet. I felt like a helpless morsel as my iron was still in the truck. I just stared back at the cat and after a few seconds it decided to saunter off down the river. Thank goodness for that. Not the kind of close encounter you want to have, I tell ya.

Koogie, right on. There's lots of game in ID. We were up by Lake Alturas one day, going to work on a cabin near the lake later on, and were doing some gold sample panning on the streams. We came around a corner on the dirt road and spotted some peoples tent. Just are we were driving by my buddy says "stop!" I stopped and we watched as a black bear emerged from the tent carrying the peoples cooler, which he promptly tore open. It had food and beer in it and we watched that bear eat and drink the entire contents, and then he wandered off into the forest. He had ripped the heck out of that tent, and the people were lucky they weren't in it at the time. I suppose they were off fishing.

Man, I thought I was. My brother in law called the Colorado division of wildlife (because of the dog incident) and they told him the info that I posted. But I'm reading differently on the link that you posted. Obviously there are some grey areas around having a hunting license and time of year etc...etc....

By all indications, it looks like hunting mountain lions is legal in Colorado.
