I just bought a used Sterling in excellent condition. However, when i received it the action was very high (somewhere around 16/64). Apparently its previous owner liked high action, no crime. That said, i like mine a bit lower. Now Ive only been playing bass for around a year and half so my knowledge on guitar setup is pretty slim. After investigating for a while I found the setup guide EBMM offers, which basically took all the mystery out of guitar setup for me. So I set my Sterling back to its factory settings. Now the action is nice and low and it sounds great. The problem is, I play a lot of heavier stuff and when i do i tend to attack my low E string more aggressively which causes a little more fret buzz than i like. Is there any harm in me raising the action just on my low E to accommodate my attack? Will it throw anything off if i dont adjust the rest of the strings with the low E? Ive played with it and the ideal height seems to be around 9/64 (which although is a small difference, does eliminate the tiny bit of buzz). Am i over thinking the issue and 3/64 is really a negligible amount? I know i could try to adjust my attack but I kinda like being able to play harder when im feeling it. I have a good guitar tech i used to use, but since Ive got my dream bass now, I kinda want to be able to take care of it myself. Sorry for the incredibly long post and thanks for any help.

No harm in adjusting it to your style of playing. I play with a harder attack and usually have to do the same thing...setup the bass to specs and make minor adjustments from there.
