the GFS pups are more expensive. More like $70 before shipping. And factor in new tuners in the price, you're going to need them.

I also found an MM1 that is in really good condition, Trans purple with no floyd that I could pick up for $125. Hell, that would leave me with enough money to upgrade the pickups.
There was one for sale locally not to long ago on craigslist and the guy linked a youtube video of him playing VH Panama and it sounded amazing!!! He put some guitar fetish crunchy PAT's in it and it screamed through his Bugara.

I love that guy;s videos, he makes a decent case for Bugera.
My OLP silo-special style is pretty cool, no major problems other than the tuning pegs are crap (but thats to be expected on cheap guitars) frets are fine, and pickups are better than expected (but still far from pro quality). It's surprisingly heavy for supposedly being made of basswood.

There was a trem version of that purple axis for sale in Cardiff - it was NOS and less than half price !!! - I just didn't want the purple one, and thank goodness I didn't buy it 'cos not long after I bought my EVH.
I'd like to get an OLP Axis for my son when he goes to UNI - save him taking a really good one that I gave him.

that's cool Spud - I did just send off my Silo Spec loaded guard to a chap in Nottingham. Shipping to UK is not a problem, and I've packed up more than a few for international shipping successfully. So count on 1st class help if you need it bro.

I took the plunge today and purchased the OLP. I voiced some concerns to the store about not playing it and they assured me that if in fact I didn't like it, i could return it. Well see.. i should have it by the end of the week.
By the way, the bridge on it is a Floyd Rose II. Is that a licenced product or a real floyd??

More than likely - if it's on an 0lp itr's licensed. You don't get real floyds for that kind of money.

Most of the Floyds on the OLP's were Lisenced Floyds. I think near the last year of production, they did make some with originals.
Here's an excerpt from a history on the Floyd Rose.
Floyd Rose II is a lower end version of the Original Floyd used mostly on import and mid-range instruments. Originally, Floyd IIs were single locking, locking only at the nut. Later versions were made double locking, but used weaker materials than the Original Floyd Rose, making them less dependable.
