Oh my, best night of my life.

Ever.

This is them performing at a festival (not the gig I was at yesterday)

I just thought I would share it as it was literally the best thing ever. I was at the front, in the mayhem. It is un-EBMM related, and a apologise.

I 'raved' for about 2 hours with these guys playing, at the end my clothes were as if i had jumped in the bath with them on, and my phone stopped working because of the perspiration.

not feelin ya on that one, zak. :)

May be a little too much for some I know, but I know I'm never going to be able to be as blown away by any other live act like this ever again.

And I swear the guitarist used a Music Man at some point. Although my vision may have been impaired by a) the breaking of my glasses b) The heavy mist that hung in the air and c) a whole host of other things, I do remember the 4+2 headstock for sure.

And if it is inappropriate (spelling?) then I'm sure Jack will come along with a smart comment and word of advice.

It's not a "too much" thing. I like some "too much" stuff - Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, to name a few. Just in this case ... I dunno, I'm looking for the musicality & just don't find it. But hey, I'm not trying to burst your bubble, and don't let me! I'm sure you won't.

One thing that I think factors in is that I really know nothing about them. So I'm not influenced by their "cult of personality". It's interesting to me just how much that can influence your perception of a band, myelf included. There've been many cases where just taking a look at the story behind a musician or band and gleaning something about of their character/personality/plight/ideals, etc, changed my actual perception and appreciation of their music. It's an interesting thing to me, really ... from a "cognitive psychology" perspective, I guess, applied to music.

So I can consider this a "control case" where I'm totally "unbiased" by that kind of knowledge/perspective on the band, and I'm judging purely on the music. Based on that sample, I just don't personally dig it. But then again ... oddly enough that's usually my first impression of bands that I later come to REALLY like ... because they're original. :)

Were substances involved? ;)

You won't, don't worry. I love these guys, they have been around since before I was born - every track is an absolute belter, a classic. They've been screaming that track for about 12 years now, and the bass you experience at one of those gigs is incredible. That, along with 100000 other people at one point shouting along to 'smack my b**ch up' was quite brilliant.

You're still young, and for your sake, I hope that you're wrong!:D

That's what was just thinking, I hope I am wrong. I probably am (every gig I go to I think the same thing!) But, that was the best SO FAR.

Were substances involved? ;)

Depends what you mean by 'substances'

I can see how that could be deeply moving and inspirational. I know they've been around a long time. Just never liked them.

What are they calling hallucenogens these days - "psycho-active" substances? You know, the ones that make it appear that something that's not really there is there; or that something that's not really happening is happening ... like in this case, good music?

I'm just teasing, man. Glad you had a good time.

Robert, seriously, I'll show you what I mean. On this vid, skip to about 3:20 (watch it all if you want) This song was last in their epic set.
