This should be a FAQ, but I couldn't find it in a quick search.

Do MM guitars only come in 1-5/8th nut width?

I really love my Morse signature. But the narrow nut drives me nuts (he he). There are quite a few things I can't play on it.

Can I order a neck with a wider nut?

Most of 'em have the same nut width. The Petrucci is wider, 1-7/8".

If you love 'em, you love 'em. Some folks do like a wider neck, but that's not an option.

The nut width is actually one of the primary reasons I love EBMM necks. They're easier for my smallish hands to get around on.

I have realy big hands and for me the best even neck shape was always the "C" '62 strat neck but have about 20 other guitars with generally big necks but last year i bought a Luke and initially thought ,what have i done,i realy struggled with the thin neck but stuck with it as i have always been an EMG man.All i can say now is how wrong i was for all of those years as i can do stuff now on that guitar that i could never ever do on my others.I gigged tonight and broke a string part way through so picked up my second guitar being my 10 top custom 24 PRS and just couldn't play it so it looks like i might have to buy another Luke as a second guitar.Trust me,just stick with it and it will make sense.

Just put a wider spaced nut on your guitar. I have a Petrucci and prefer the 1-5/8th over the stock one, so I replaced it with the narrower spacing nut.

It's really not the hand size that throws me off. I have medium sized hands.

I like chords and it is just too difficult to have all 6 strings ring free with a 1-5/8th nut. Plus it is outright impossible to do anything useful with the last segment of the ring finger, no barres from there anymore.

I'll look into just putting a nut with wider spacing, maybe the fretboard is wide enough.

Thanks, guys.

P.S. are you sure the JB is realy 1-7/8", as in 47.625mm? That would be the largest nut on an electric I've ever seen.

Sorry - my bad. That's the JP7.

According to the MM site, the regular JP is 1-11/16" at the nut.
