Sure, or email me. For some reason people don't like leaving messages on the answering machine at the store :???:

Honestly, I prefer emailing too. I guess i spend too much time on the computer.

Check out the Peavey JSX. I just ordered one. Sweet!

Tried one in a store with Brian Moore i8 (bolt-on) and i2 (set-neck) - wasn't impressed. Also I have no use for a 100 watt head. And no space for it in my room too.

I played though a Hot Rod 50XL for the longest time. Within the last year I have since been using a Line 6 Vetta combo + a Genz Benz G-Flex 2x12. And I haven't looked back.
Still would like to get a Soldano Decatone though.

Why did you switch?

That was at a time a few years ago when I had a bad case of GAS. I was buying and selling a lot of equipment in those days. I went through several silos (loved them all) several other guitars and a boat-load of amps. After all of that I still have a few different guitars (including a silo) but have dwindled down to using only a Mesa Boogie MK IV for an amp. Although, if I happend to come across a decent deal for an HR50+ again I'd probably jump all over it. :D

Hey all,
I'm interested in a Soldano Astroverb. I'm in love with the SLO, but being a bedroom rocker, that just isn't in the cards. One of my fav VH tone in the For Unlawful album. I lean towards hard rock sounds. I'm big into ZZTop. I love crunchie tones to some it up. Will the Astroverb have enough distortion for me do you think? I really don't want to have to use a pedal...

I have a Mesa DC-5, which sounds close enough to DT for me. Problem is that it doesn't have enough gain, and it doesn't like to be pushed with pedals. So I'm looking for something more high-gain.
Roadking or Dual Recto would probably do it for me, but they are way out of reach moneywise. I did not fall in love with Peaveys, so I'm considering Soldano Astroverb.
I know it won't have enough gain of its own, but many reviewers say it doesn't mind being pushed with a pedal.

If you want to emulate Petrucci's tone, stay away from the Dual or Triple Rectifiers (unless you want to emulate ONLY the tone that he had around Train Of Thought). The rectifiers do rhythm or lead sounds GREAT...the keyword there being OR. You can't have both in the amp. I owned a Roadster combo. I traded mine in and put money towards a Bogner Ecstasy strictly for the lead tones that amp gives me. The rhythm sounds are great too. Regarding Petrucci's tone...you cannot go wrong with a Mark IV; although, the new Mark V is supposed to sound great. I'd love to try a Soldano, but I've never even SEEN one in person!

edit: just realized how old this thread is and that the guy has probably already picked an amp and is happy with it....oops! haha

Yeah, I did a search last night. I figured use this thread as it's been touched on already...

I use a Yamaha T-100C combo. It was designed by Michael Soldano to emulate "the Soldano sound". I think it sounds awesome, and it has tons of gain. Also, it has a Master Volume, so you can crank the gain, but lower the volume. I use the amp on stage with an original hard rock band, and can drop the volume down low enough to use in my apartment too. They only made these for a few years in the early 90s, but they pop up on eBay every now and then.

We have both an Astroverb 112 and 212 in stock, along with a Reverb-O-Sonic and Lucky 13 50w combo. My SLO-100 with mods is available for test-drives upon advance notice. The only guitars I dont have in stock right now are an Albert Lee, a Silhouette Special, and a Steve Morse (last two both on order for May/June)
If you decide to stop in, please call/email ahead. We have 2 stores here in town, and I would have to find the amp/guitar ahead of time for you, since the inventory has been known to migrate :D

The smaller amps take a stompbox quite well, the bigger ones have no need for it, so I've never tried it. I ordered an Astroverb with a special 6v6 tube conversion for a customer a few months ago, he runs a distortion pedal in front of it and loves it. I just got a "thank you" email two weeks ago with him raving about how good it is.

*sigh* Pete, I really wish we had a local dealer like you... What amazing service... I'm officially jealous of everyone who has access to Pete as a dealer....:(

SLO would be very nice amp, but i like littlebit more bass-end sound... Bogner Uberschall is another great amp. It has tremendous kick.

I love my Uberschall, but it's kindof a one-trick pony. I guess the same kinda goes for the SLO. Soldano makes a great amplifier...

I had the Astroverb head, but that was before I had a MM, so I never played them together. Solid, tight and very loud little amp. It had an Allman Bros Band flavor and feel to it. I sold it only because EL84 power tubes just don't do it for me, preferring 6L6 and 6V6 amps. But it's a super little amp if you go for EL84's, which can hang with a drummer easily.
