Thanks Peter! I'll forward this to Wonderdog...

Beth while we are on the subject of informing Wonderdog, I think he will find interesting that a company called Vintage is copying not just the body of a StingRay but also the 3+1 headstock as in the example below.

Pity could be handy for some folk restoring their guitars.
Like the JPs that are being documented on forum.

Its not about conning people really, most people that end up using these decals is for themselves.
Like for example someone modding an OLP to take a floyd and applying Musicman decal to headstock.
Most of time it just for their own use.

Well if it was me thats what i would use it for.

That's what I was thinking, slapping it on a blank HS on an old OLP or some sort.

Sigh...

i have an OLP and honestly i love the thing... i don't care if it says OLP on the headstock its a great guitar for the money... and truth be told anyone knowing their stuff would know immediately that the quality of OLP and EBMM are totally different...

i made the post so it could be investigated and checked out. I know that EBMM has always been proactive in making sure their instruments and name are protected.

Cmon man, Vintage stuff isn't that bad. Its all Wilkinson hardware nowadays.
Not sure about the legality of the "Stingray" though.

Its an outrage in my views, my dear Scottish neighbour, besides if you listen to their demo youtube vids you will see that Wilinson or not they sound like sh|te!

... until they sell it to someone else down the line ...

Anyway, mass producing something that infringes upon someone else's trademark isn't legal, and that's the bottom line. If I'd spend millions of dollars on branding I sure as hell want to protect my brand.

As beej stated above, it's all about brand name recognition and quality control.

As some of us can already notice EBMM doesn't advertise in the same volume as let say Fender or Gibson, but the guitars become known through word of mouth of happy and satisfied customers.

I used to be a LP guitar head, played my first EBMM and was blown away. But when people start conning or putting in "knock-off" quality or bad reputation by way of mouth, the system which EBMM guitars works off of becomes threatened.

Which is essentially, EBMM speak for themselves. Literally and figuratively.
