Hello

My 10 years old daughter plays classical guitar for 4 years. She has a nice guitar (3/4 size) :

The problem is that now she starts looking at my guitars , especially the SUB (for two reasons : the SUB is light and it has a vibrato) :

On this video, it was the second time she played with the SUB. The neck is still a bit too long for her (she's used to her 3/4 size guitar).
Last year, she started to take my Beatles CD, now she's listening to Rory Gallagher ... Kids are growing really fast !
I think I will put a lock on the door of my music room :D

Nice playing.

My 8 year old alternates between his 3/4 scale martin, a 24 3/4 guitar (when one is home), the sub, and my acoustic. He's not allowed to touch the Axis or ASS or my 40 year old guitar. I'm actually going to be buying a used LP scale semi-hollow when the shop corrects some fret issues with it. Once they're completely comfortable with the full scale (or LP scale), the 3/4 sort of gets put aside. My son's only been playing a year and has a long way to go to reach your daughter. That's pretty impressive....and finger picking to boot!

Yeah not the kind of kid you need to worry about wrecking your stuff, it's the ones that want to do windmills and kneeslides to watch out for. Great stuff!

Thanks a lot

Her teacher is really very good (and very nice also !).
Now I have to teach her how to play with a pick.
The problem with finger picking is that you need to have long nails. With a 10 years old kid, it's not very easy because she has a lot of activities where she can break her nails (playing in the garden with her little brother for instance or the gymnastic training ...). My wife spends a lot of time correcting the mess ...
Guitars are made to be played thus I am very happy that my daughter plays with my guitars :)
But my 6 years old son wants to become drummer :eek::eek: (he already starts learning in the conservatory).
With my daughter guitarist and my son drummer, I will have to become bass player

Actually, you can buy finger picks to attach to your fingers, no need to grow the fingernails out. Take a look at these.

For small fingers , like for children they have these

Also, Fingerstyle playing doesn't require long fingernails.

Your daughter is really good and I enjoyed the video. My guess is she will probably like to play the Sub electric more. Thanks for uploading this, it made my day. :)

Seriously cool playing by your little one, effortless

I imagine this will eventually hit your pocket. Playing that Sub, her guitar expectations will be set high.

Gotta agree with jamminjim, this has made my day too.

What beautiful playing. She has real talent. My 17 year old daughter dabbles a little but now prefers the piano. Ah well, I'll keep working on her.

I wish I could finger pick

I am not sure that it is usable with nylon string. In the classical guitar technique, you hit the string with the nail but also with the pulp of the fingers. With metal picks, the sound will be different. I know that some guitarists use acrylic nails (you know the nails for the ladies).

For me it is the contrary ! 3.2 kg for the SUB, 3.4 kg for the Axis and 4.1 kg for the Morse ! Every piece of wood has its own characteristics. That's why we have to buy so many guitars !!! :D:D

Thanks a lot. I also dream to have a good finger pick technique. But alas, I did a lot of mountain climbing when I was younger and I had an injury : now my ring finger is not anymore independent with my middle finger. My technique is now quite bizarre :(

Thanks a lot (just try to imagine a proud father with a stupid grin on his face).
