guys.....the sub and the sterling are different beasts if you were to compare the sub would be at twice the last price we offered them at....we were losing our arses on them.

I have asked Beth to discuss the priceing with CMC and I want to make sure that the benefit of doubt is given before they are publicly slayed

It's great to hear that the CMC pricing can at least be discussed..

Because i am certainly catching what the boys are kicking...
Feeling what they're dealing.
Picking up what they're putting down.
I won't deny, what they're supplying haha.

Even a great dealer struggle to work with these margins.

+1 on Dizzys post!
Getting a EBMM guitar here is such a rort.I mean a fully loaded JP costs about $5700.
Add about $300 more for a lefty.
Then you look at prices in US. Say $2200US.
Then you do the math : $2200 @ 0.76 = $2859AU
This guitar costs DOUBLE that here???
Import taxes? GST? Who's pocketing this difference?
It sucks man.For such amazing guitars , that come in left handed versoins too for us backwards people, buying one in Oz just doesn't make sense.
I just got a Silo Spec of eBay for half of what it retails here, coz if i was to get it here, i simply couldn've afforded it.
P.S. I hope i don't get in trouble for my rant.
Like Dwells said, i love you BP!

Firing up from the Australian contingent!
I work in my folks company in the import and distribution of "high end" car parts from EU and the US and I struggle to understand the prices of not just EBMM products but most imported "high end" music gear i.e Mesa, EBMM etc. Considering the fact that there is no import duty thanks to the US & Australia free trade agreement and the reasonably cheap shipping rates if you send a 20 foot container across the pacific rather than in a plane it certainly doesn't make sense or add up.
The prohibitive cost of buying one here in Aus certainly contributes to it's lack of mainstream acceptance and the reason why it is such a big deal when a MM is spotted over here.
As you said dwells I would also have more Music Men in my collection if I is was over there in the US.

I think a subforum for Sterlings would be a good idea, save place getting cluttered up.

Just picked up an AX40 after a lot of research. Great finish and sound...I'm changing some of the parts on the Trem such as sustain block and screws etc...Otherwise its staying as is with exception of strap locks.

I compared the sound to my other Guitars (IBanez MRB 1570 with Evos, Fender FR Strat with Dimarzios) and its comparable. Enough of a difference to spend $300 on pickups? No.

The LFR worried me as well...a FR Original is on its way to me for next week. I think the LFR is fine if leveled and a block added so it only dives...the springs feel stiff though. I plan to setup for 42-9 Slinkys.

I also ordered Dimarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton (Both cream and black). The stock pickups sound great but I found the pick ups on sale so I have them just in case.

I tried out a JP50 unplugged at my local guitar store and was blown away with the playability of the thing! Really great neck and fantastic finish overall. Was so impressed that i've got a EBMMJP6 on order, woohoo!:D

JP50...

Pros:
-Great neck (even though its finished, its still smooth)
-AMAZING tremolo quality. The thing has great stability.
-Locking tuners that are almost as good as the real ones (I hesitate to buy a guitar that doesn't have them after owning EBMM's for the past few years)
-The pickups are pretty good for the guitars price tag

Cons:
-There is no way to keep the tremolo bar in and still loose (move freely).

Overall:
Plays like a $1,000 guitar. F@#$ing AMAZING quailty. I owned 10 or so "cheap" guitars and NOT ONE of them played or sounded half as nice. Music Man guitars are the best guitars on the planet and Sterling are the best sub 1k guitars made today.

I have said this before but, sometimes I have anxiety that EBMM's will change and I start to freak out. I feel like I should buy 2 or 3 and store them under my bed... LOL

If your thinking about getting a Sterling, just pull the trigger. You will not be dissapointed!

Dwells, the LFR is a pain and so is the nut. I replaced mine with an OFR R2 and that completely changed the feel of the guitar.

My New Sterling JP50

Hi,

I have had and played some of the best guitars out there from Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Schecter, OLP, PRS and most recently Dean. I have to say that my favorites have been the Music Man guitars lines; the Axis, Silhouettes, Lukes and especially the John Petrucci models (which I love but just could not afford right now). Well recently I was in Guitar Center and played the Sterling JP50 and fell TOTALLY in love with it. I recently purchased a Dean Vendetta Como which is a very good guitar but it was just not really me. I could not really get into it. After being on the MM forum and hearing the great reactions of the guitar and watching Tung's video of not only his awesome playing but also how great the JP50 sounded; I knew that guitar was the guitar for me.

Well on my way to Church today; I stopped by Guitar Center and played the JP50 again and could not put it down. I could not resist.... I went out to my car and retrieved my Dean and traded it in for the JP50. And what was good was that I was able to catch GC's 15% discount trade up sale which ended today. I went to Church (I play with our Praise Team); plugged in my new AWESOME JP50 and just smiled as I started playing. No other guitar made me smile like that except the Music Man line and the John Petrucci models.

I am totally in love with my Sterling JP50. The action is perfect, the guitar is totally comfortable and the pups are just right. Everything about this guitar is perfection... I have to go back to GC in a couple of days because they had to order a trem bar which was not in the gig bag:(. But that's OK.

I may look at purchasing an AX40 or Silo a little later as well and when the time comes I will be purchasing my other favorite MM John Petrucci model; perhaps the JPX when it's available. But you know; I tell you what.... ANY JP model is fine with me....LOL.

I just want to thank John Petrucci, Sterling Ball, Pat Park, Tung all the other JP50 players out there for bringing this AWESOME guitar to the for front and making it a major player in the world of great guitars.

The JP50 in black looks sweet. I may get that one too.

Peace... Marvin (Tony1326)
