Hallo gentlemen. I'm from Russia so sorry for my bad english:).. I own stingray bass 4. . The problem is that I got this bass several months ago аnd I know nothing about this guitar. . it is rather old, there is no pickguard, but as far as I know sound is warm, deep аnd so it's nice. . I thought that it was something like hand-made guitar. . because I didn't find any serial number or stamp ''made in USA''. . . BUT, several days ago I found the serial number on the bridge . . it is ''B238756''. . so men, I want you to tell me anything you can about this masterpiece:-D I want to know when it ''was born'' аnd the city of its birth. . аnd how can you value it? please help me. . thank you all. .

Hi Pog-ON.

Can you check the serial number again.

Hi Dan

I'm really curious about the 2 SRs that I have. Serial numbers 32989 & 57219. Any and all details would be welcome, especially about the Blue Burst; I'm curious if this was one of the last ones with this finish. Thanks for your help!

Dave, sure, and welcome to the Forum. Your Natural Velvet StingRay bass was built on 11/13/95 and was shipped originally to GC Hollyood.

32989 - is a 3 EQ Trans Blueburst/maple, built on 4/18/91. The color was discontinued in 1994, so there were plenty made after yours - sent to GC in Roseville, MN.

57219 - StingRay 5 Black w/rosewood fretboard, also sent to GC in Roseville, MN.

Nice -

hoochie, your StingRay was completed on 9/15/00 and was shipped to Riks Music & Sound in Knoxville, Tennessee. The body wood should be poplar.

The series of numbers is what we call a build code. This is how we identify instruments through the production process.

The 130 identifies the bass as a 2-EQ StingRay.
The 02 tells us that it has a White finish.
The 20 tells us that it is to have a rosewood neck with a plain maple headstock on it.
The 03 indicates a tortoise shell pickguard.

The 5220525 is simply the work order number that tells us, among other things, to which dealer the instrument is sold to.

Now you know our seeestem! ;)

You do great work, Dan. I just received a brand new, beautiful 2007 LE Sterling, number F11134 and was wondering the birth date. Anything else you can tell me is golden as well. Thanks
