Help! string Breakage

Hey guys

Just put new strings on my JP6 BFR and im after breaking two high E strings in the space of half an hour!! I made an adjustment on the bridge as the high E had lower action than the rest of the strings, its now level like the rest of my guitars... Do you think that could of been the problem???

I think that by adjusting the action on the E string (lowering it I presume), there is now more tension pulling on it. So when you tune the string up to pitch it increases the tension to a point where it breaks.

Your bridge is level right?

i was actually bringing the E higher as it seemed lower than the rest and the bridge is level so i dont really know whats after happening!! the string did seem like it had tension though, more than the others!!

For a given tuning, the tension will not change. Were you doing a lot of bending? I broke 3 high e's on my Axis when going over Hotel California and Money (pink floyd) solos. I tend to go over them over and over and over then ping. New string. I don't think action should matter.

Where is it breaking, at the bridge, or at the nut? I'd think it's more along the lines of a burr in the saddle or in the nut.

Strings should never break that fast.

Especially on your BFR it shouldn't. I'd get that checked out. Just make sure all the tension with the claw in the back is the same. I have the same guitar as you and have never had this problem.

Oh yea and if you can't figure anything out call CS! Best there is.

Sounds like a burr, i too had the same problem on my axis, it turned out to a burr which was removed with a dremel, no more problems now.
