I got my Egyptian Smoke Bongo 4 HS today.

I waited around the house for that knock on the door, and when it came, I couldn't have been happier.

I unpacked and just looked in awe at the beauty of what lay in front of me.

It is a beautiful thing. I can't understand why people think it is ugly. I just can't grasp that concept.

I plugged it in, with everything set to the center detents, and broke straight into 'Cosmic Girl' by Jamiroquai. Phwoar! This is the BEST SOUNDING BASS I have ever owned or played. It sounds SO good. I thought HS was going to be a bit wimpy compared to the HH's I had tried (I never tried an HS before) but now I realise that the HS is my thing. I much prefer it...it is so snappy, the frequency range is incredible - it sounds bloody amazing.

I used it for an afternoon band practice and the band all commented on how pretty it was and how good it sounded. I couldn't be happier.

HS FTW. If havn't tried a Bongo HS, I suggest you do. Now. It is the funkiest sounding thing I have ever had the pleasure of playing.

Did I mention the action is perfect, neck is perfect, feel is perfect and the balance is perfect?

It is perfect. There will be more.

Well Robert, I absolutely love it. I know you have said that to me before, but the redrise is going NOWHERE. No matter how much I am tempted to sell it to buy bongos, it is not going to go. But, I am going to get an H bongo, but not too bothered about HH. The HS is just so much funkier.

I also considder myself extremely lucky to get just a simple 'Yes!' from Sterling himself. This is literally the best company there is. I feel that I am part of something special, especially now I have the Bongo.

HS is very underrated as a pickup configuration.

And thankyou all for the happy birthdays! It was Epic. But I admit I am drunk again right now. Being 18...brilliant.

Thanks guys. You are all epic.

glad you got the bass in the end up:)

I ended up with the sapphire black HH you were let down on a few months past - but maybe thats just fate and her fickleness - after all you did good with the HS!

fwiw,I prefer the spread of tone with the HS I used to own to the HH.

but they're both groovy:cool:

It certainly was a difficult decision to make :( (I was still agonising about selling after I'd received the money), and I'm sure it won't be the last Bongo I own.

Good to see that it's gone to a good home, and if nothing else, it helps spread the good word :)

When I find some batterries for the camera...It's just a hassle to walk the 100 yards into town.

Oh and I recieved the paperweight today! It's very nice, I didn' realise it was as classy as it is (classy for a paperweight.) Thanks very much, it's an awesome present.
