Not everybody gets a personal tour of new basses. Sterling went through all the settings and I am pretty much floored by both instruments. The range of sounds is incredible in ways that previous offerings, while awesome, can't really touch.

So, now that its morning I thought I would add a little commentary.

So the event was pretty cool. Now I am not a Dream Theater fan, awesome musicians, but not my genre of choice. That said, Petrucci is really cool, I enjoyed what he had to say quite a bit. I think anytime you can meet a musician of that caliber in this kind of setting you should totally take the time, because you can learn a lot . Plus his biceps are huge!

Sterling walked me through all the settings on the Big Al. I would have to say that it sounded better than I had hoped. Part of what I don't like about the the two pickup Stingrays and Sterlings, is that for me I only really like a couple of the pickup settings. On the Big Al and the 25th as well, I would and will use all of the settings. My favorites were the two bottom coils in series (thats all buttons up) and the bridge pickup soloed.

Thanks to BP for doing this and for going through the range of tones on the bass with me. Now I just hope my Big Al comes soon.

Okay, guys, there's a hell of a long back-story here that we ain't getting into in Paul's lovely thread, so I'm going back and deleting my post and everything related to it.

Just so you know where your stuff went.

This is about BP and JP, not that other guy - and yes, I've owned those, too.

HEy LEts just say that it was very nice of Dan to come by. now lets still talk about us!

Definitely. Definitely nice meeting you last night too. Thanks for taking the time to show us your new instruments. Also, JP really presents himself well and makes a fantastic representative of your company. It was a really nice experience to just sit back and listen to the two of you talk and answer questions all night. Thanks!

All of the basses that were brought in for this are available for sale there. I was bored and decided to pop back in yesterday for some quiet alone time.

Outside of the Big Al my favorite model was probably the HH 25th anniversary. All 4 25th's they have are on the light weight side (sub 9lbs I would guess) including the fivers. It does seem to be a comfortable bass.
