Just noticed there's another 25th video up on The Perfect Bass website, this time covering the 4H and 5HSS:

TPB 25th bass vid here

Needless to say they sound amazing, so thanks again to Brandt and the guys for going to the effort of doing this - incredibly helpful to those of us far away who don't have access to one of these instruments to try out.

Brandt looks a little different in this one though: sort of unshaven and with a bit of an Elvis Costello look going on...:p:D

Brandt Bueller you're my hero...

The single H sounded wicked, more so than I expected. And it was awesome to hear the HSS finally. Any comments you'd like to share?

All the sounds are great. I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much I like the single H in passive/parallel. That sounds REALLY smooth.

Interesting, I've been playing the videos quite a bit and come to the conclusion my favourite sound/tone is actually the HH. This may be my bias, though, as I have an HH SR5 and love that to bits. Difficult to tell without actually playing one of course, but I love the deep thump of the thing.

I loved the HSS, but it seems like a more refined version of the Bongo. Better Stingray sounds than the Bongo, but there's something else in the Bongo that I didn't hear here, I can't tell what it is though!

The H rocked my world! There is such a huge difference in tone between the 4 options that this could be the most powerful single pickup instrument every created.

The HSS is very cool also. My favorite tone was the Neck and Middle in passive with the tone half down. I know it would be tough to get the Bongo out of adouglas’ hands but this set up would kill in a Motown band! (adouglas does play Motown right?)

Brandt,

Great videos, and lots of different tone's happening in them. One thing you've omitted in the videos was to show or name the make and model of the amp and speaker combination that we heard you play the 25th Annies through. Also how it was eq'd and where the volume(s) was set.

Can you shed some light.

The HSS and H video was thrown together on the spot…. Sorry for not elaboration on the set up.

The bass is routed direct through a Radial ToneBone with the EQ set flat on the DI. I also had the EQ set flat on the bass during all of the pick-up configuration changes. (I did a little EQ modding on the HH video which I noted when a change was made.) Volume was set at about 90%.

If you guy have any additonal questions please let me know.
