Well, I took the 25th to rehearsal today and the band flipped. Even the producer dug it. So it looks like I'll take it out this weekend, we're opening for Robin Trower tomorrow night at La Zona Rosa and doing a 6-9 slot at Maggie Maes (for you Austinites). I'm sure there will be some pics, maybe footage from the Trower show.

I really liked how the bass sounded in this context - hard rock (not metal). I went back and forth between a few sounds, but mainly used coils 2 &3 in series. It has serious bottom, but cuts through with nice open mids. The B string was huge, and plenty articulate - especially since I'm used to 35" scale these days - it did it's daddy proud. I was playing through a Fender 8x10 with a Fender 1200 watt amp/preamp combination. Not my personal rig, but it sounded massive. I actually like it better through my Genz setup, so it's going to be a blast.

I look forward to your reviews of these basses, Ed. I have seen all your videos on your YouTube page; you really do some of the best product reviews on the web. Great work and amazing playing.

Looking forward to seeing your reviews Ed. And for anyone who hasn't picked up Ed's books or videos, they're great to have in your library.

My old band opened for Trower about 15 years ago in San Francisco. It was a packed house but the hard core Trower-heads just wanted guitar solos from him, not bass solos from me.

And Jack....

Thanks for the shameless promotion of my books. I've been shot at on TB for less! As they say in showbiz, the Czech's in the male!

Well, tonight I took the 25th out to my big rock show. Holy ****! (Can I say that here? Guess not.) Seriously, this thing was incredible. While it can do all sorts of other things... this bass is a beast for hard rock. It has huge bottom, and amazing grind. It's like running a ditch witch through concrete. I'm more than pleased as I've been looking for an axe for this rock trio, and man... this is it. ****ing awesome!

BTW, the full Sterling By Music Man review is now up on my youtube channel.

Ed be careful you may become a fanboi1

Seriously thanks for noticing what we are up to...I have never been so excited about the stuff the crew is coming up with

If the crew ever decides to add the amethyst burst color scheme to the SR5 HH coolness, I'd be in trouble because that would be my kryptonite, and the budget'd get all blown to pieces....

Oh, and Ed's comment about the SR5 being like running a ditch witch through concrete was a pretty descriptive visual...kinda wicked nasty good....

He is talking about the 25th Anniversary Bass. The SR5 rules but this is a different animal. :)

That's what I get for drinking that nice grape Koolaid you were serving at the NAMM booth!:D

Well, like I told Jack, I've always appreciated what you guys do... but the 25th really blows me away...
