yea, i'm sure it has. ash, alder, poplar... right now, according to the website, we've got Ash for Stingrays, basswood for Bongos, and Alder for Big Als. Big Alders? i know this could easily change as quantity and quality of wood supplies change. to me, the spec geek, it's interesting to see each bass being distinctly different on several fronts.

Stingrays/Sterlings are ash now, and from what I've gathered over my time here some were alder (such as mine) some were poplar, and some (probably just the natural ones) were ash. Which is probably why the specs used to read 'selected hardwoods'

Alder generally seems to be a bit lighter than ash. I'm hoping the Big Al's are not as heavy as some of the Stingrays...

Doesn't the mass of the instrument have something to do with its sound? Would a lighter instrument have less sustain?

Ha!!! That's what I've said about all my EBMM basses.

I can't figure which is my "Main" bass. I switch up all the time. Each time I start playing one I fall in love with it

+1 When I'm asked which is my number one, I reply with which ever one I grab. BP and Co. are home run derby champions, imho every model is hit out of the park.

If this had a 5 string version, it'd replace the Bongo6 on the top of my bass GAS list.

These Big Al's look just phantastic... congratulations everyone.

So far I liked Brand's Ice Blue the best.... but I imagine it would look great in RR or CAR, with a plain black or white pickguard... sort of Corvettish...

Good stuff.

Sweet, I am looking forward to it. I couldn't help myself today...I stopped by GC on the way home just so I could bang on one a little bit. More excited than ever now.

This bass is awsome!!!...but 3 things that would be a nice addition for MM to consider for a future update to this model: 5 string version, 24 frets, stealth finish. That's it. Other than that I adore this instrument. Looks great in blue. I love that it has the tone of a percision bass and jazz bass in one and giving it the passive option was a good choice MM made, but it needs a 5th string for some of us
