Pickup question - Silhouette

Hello.

I'm about to buy myself a MM Silhouette, with S/S/S setup.
Is it able to switch the pickguard and put a humbucker in bridge position?
Is the guitar built that way so i can do that, without picking up the chainsaw myself?

Is it a Silhouette or Silhouette Special? 22 (Silo Special) or 24 (Silhouette)frets?

If it is a 22 fret, Silhouette Special, the answer is most likely yes.

Okay,

If it is a Silhoutte Special (the 22-fret model) it is routed for a humbucker in the bridge position under the pickguard.

If it is an older Silhouette (the 24-fret model) it has a "universal" or "bathtub" type route under the pickguard.

Well, it's an older Silhouette 24 fret, i think, in dark purple (I don't know if they make them in that colour anymore?)

Why not just unscrew the pickguard and take a look? You shouldn't have to remove strings or anything.

I know the newer ones have the "bathtub" or "swimming pool" routing. Plus, hasn't the stock configuration on a Silhouette pretty much always been HSH? If that's the case, you would likely be able to do at least HSH with it, if not any other combination...

One of the original innovations with the Silhouette was the "easy to replace pickguard" using the molex connector. The Silhouette was available in just about every configuration:

1. SSS
2. HSS
3. HH
4. HSH

Plus EBMM used to sell pre-loaded pickguards, so you could have more than one configuration and swap them out without soldering connections. The guitar has always had a universal route to accomodate any of the 4 configurations.

That means any guitar from the Silo family has the bridge position routed for a humbucker. The middle and neck routing is what differs.

The Silo I used to have had one big "swimming pool" that would accommodate any specification. Mine was made in 1993.

My 1995 Silo ( 24 fret with stock Floyd even ) has an HSH route. I'd kinda dig the swimming pool notion though.
