Looks like a red to me. Maybe it has faded slightly. If you get the serial number, AJ at Customer Service can look up the original color for you.

Didn't the Jap Axis EX models have the toggle in the same spot as the EVH ?

That looks like a US Axis to me

All the Jap Axis EXs i've seen have had EVH toggle placement.
Back of the headstock will tell you immediately if it's USA or not... Serial number should clarify the rest.

I'd be very interested to hear how it all pans out...

Also EX tops were not book matched. Only a serial # check will confirm finish color. 4 g's way too expensive for an Axis of any color, especially in this tight $ enviroment.

Also, the Axis EX models I have seen pics of have no "model" name on the headstock - no "AXIS" like the North American ones....

I don't like the pricing at all (for obvious reasons), but I am very curious to find out the story as well. I would love to find a pink Axis, quilt or flame, or even opaque for that matter (even though this one looks red to me....).

Hey, u talkin to me? NY
Now that you have the serial #, I guess that we'll find out soon....
Even if it's dark pink, it's not worth anything close to $4K.

If it was a special one off, custom ordered for an artist, I would love to know who that artist was. That information is listed in the EBMM guitar database. My '00 Vintage Burst ASS was a special order for an artist and I found this out when I got the serial # checked out by a EBMM rep.
