Played a Big Al Today!

Happened to be at my local GC (Southfield, MI) and I was walking around the bass section (was in there not looking for a bass), and lo and behold, sitting on a stand on the floor, was a Big Al!!
Wow! I said....
Picked it up, plugged it into a MarkBass (cause I've heard how much they love EBMM stuff), and was enjoying the variety of tones from the switches and passive / active switch. Within a few minutes I had it on the bridge PU only, active, and getting a NICE Entwistle tone booming out of the speakers.
Haven't played a 4 in a while, but the neck on that one seems SUPER thin.

Nice work, everyone at EBMM! Another classic!

I tried my first one today, too. It had some pickup switching issues, but what I could make it do was great. I'm normally not a multi-pickup fan, but this one makes me reconsider that position.

I'm looking forward to trying a fiver in due course.

was this one at guitar center chicago? If so it is an easy fix....someetimes the pick guard binds ever so slightly...the switches are fine...they need to either just take the guard off and reinstall or maybe a tiny amount of graphite

At GC Lombard, Sterling... The circuit worked when I held the button down, so what you say makes sense.

I had one for the weekend last week. Brought it back for the same reason. If only it was a 5 string. Guess i'll just have to wait until January's NAMM show.

After seeing this post I had to make a trip up there myself.

What a fun bass to play. All three coils in active mode sounded great. I also liked the middle and bridge combo as well. I messed around with passive mode but I very much like an "active" MusicMan sound. I have a Sterling H with a maple board but really liked the rosewood one on the BIG AL.

They also had some 25 Anniversary 3 PU models. I enjoyed them as well but kept coming back to the BIG AL because it was so much fun to play. (It is supposed to be fun, right?)
