48 sound samples and no responses.

anyway, i'd love a 25th with a pickup in the Stingray spot. but after hearing the sound samples, i've become enamored with the middle and neck single coils. what to do, what to do?

Amazing - that's an awesome review. Just sat here and listened to the whole lot :D

Thanks Ed, great - and a great bass without a doubt.

I particularly liked a lot of the passive tones and many of the muted pick selection sounded fantastic imho.

Thanks! Today I shot video with the HH 25th and Big Al for my Guitar World review. I don't know how I'll fit it all in! I want to be thorough and show all the sounds with pick, finger and slap, active and passive. I only get 10 minutes. This has been a big month for me working with EBMM basses, sometimes you just get lucky.

Wow, now THAT is a study in tone. Too cool. Fingerstyle, I'm loving the passive parallel tones. For slap, samples 24 (all coils, active) and 26 (coil 3 solo, active) are my fav's based on these samples ... just killer. 24 has Ray character, with a compressed sound. Awesome.

Wow!

Great review, great playing, seems like a fantastic bass.

Isn't the internet great.

When I started playing *mumble, mumble* years ago:)o ) there was no such thing. Now we get up to date reviews with sound samples, video etc. Plus all the other things. I speak to my brother, face to face a few times a week. He lives in Spain. It costs me my internet charge. 20 years ago it would have been a couple of letters a year and a polaroid.

I was glad to have the chance to give it a full review. Guitar World gives me 800 words for the 25th AND the Big Al!

Thanks Ed for all the work and a great review.

Any comparison thoughts on the HSS vs. the HH, vs. The Big Al? (Edit: I realized this morning that I've already asked this question... Late night posting + eager curiousity makes me repeat myself. I apologize for the woopsie. If you have any additional thoughts however, as always, I am all ears. Thanks again.)

Thanks for the chance to hear this bass, Ed. It sounds like it's got a ton of tones in it. That middle pickup sure sounds great.

Thank you so much Ed! Those samples and your comments were more than educational, now I want that bass!

That's the point!

As far as HSS vs Big Al.... The middle and neck pickups sound very similar. Yeah, the wood, the body size are different, but the essential sound is the same. The HH is very different - the bridge pickup is more the classic MM thing, and it may be very similar to other HH models, but the series/parallel and active/passive capabilities make it a unique beast unto itself. You'll get to see it in the video I'm working on. I'll get a preview up soon as I can.
