Deployment is almost here again and a WORLD CRUISE to boot! So it looks like this West Coast sailor will finally see the waters of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

Of course, the Balls are coming with me (it's good to be the El Jefe). Last deployment's mainstay Dargie Bongo 4HP will sit this one out so my Sterling Five, SR4HP and the Small Eq Bongo can clock in some serious mileage!

Internet connection will be slow but steady enough so I can still follow BP around in Facebook err, in the forum. So yeah, I'm still going to be part of the shenanigans.

Are you likely to get to the UK at all?

Let us know, I'm sure we could organise some sort of party :)

Try and get to Plymouth if you have any influence over the driver of your ship

Oh what I would not give to go hit some Channel and Baltic ports! I heard that you guys export your ugly women!

Anyway, yeah I am really looking forward to some great European ports (despite the currency disadvantage).

You're thinking of a different kind of cruise, I imagine. Our intrepid syciprider is off to protect us (and the sea lanes) from the evil that still exists in this world, the kind seen on maybe "America's Got Talent" or "Dancing with the Stars".

Stay safe out there, shipmate. Oh, and play some bass and post some pics!

Just curious as I've never been a sailor. (but have many friends and a brother in law who have.) How do you take that many basses with you on a ship, plus a small amp?

Most of the people I have talked to who were sailors had a little locker to store there stuff and that was it.

He indicated he's an officer, so presumably gets a bunk to himself, and maybe some junior rank to roadie for him.

If you happen to port in Norfolk on your cruise, give me a holler. I can't get on base (no longer a dependent), but I'd be able to cart you to a GC or our local music store Alpha if you managed to get away from the ship! We might be able to hunt down Koogs, too!

He's Navy. Senior Chief Petty Officer.

This. :D

Mark, no worries. The best way to get a lighthearted rise from a senior enlisted man is to mistake him for an officer. In the Navy both senior NCOs and officers wear khaki so the only way to differentiate between the two groups are to see who is teaching and working alongside their sailors (NCOs) and who signs paperwork (officers). And watch the officers in this forum jump in on this while the NCOs defend my post ;)

I just had a mental image of Koogs in full stage gear trying to get through the base gate.

It was kind of like a first-person shooter video game.
