Hi All..

Regarding my new SMY2D, I'm having a few issues and need help from fellow owners. I'm having it setup again this Saturday due to some fret buzz/bottoming that I cannot seem to get rid of but before that, I'd like to ask the following questions;

1.) What string gauges are you running with this model? (mine's hybrid 9s that Morse uses on his hard-tail..)
2.) How is the action setup; how many mms from the string to the top of the 12th fret for example?
3.) Do you have strings slapping against the frets/any bottoming when you bend? any buzz?
4.) How much relief do you have?

And finally..I noticed that the underside of the floyd hits against the body; there's no material to protect the finish, just the metal block. Is this normal? I'm thinking there could have been a thin strip of whatever placed along the edge of the metal so as to retain the function without it spoiling the finish. Everytime I use it I feel guilty! :)

Anyway, thanks for the feedback..

Tom.

first of all let me suggest your call up customer support which they would be more then happy to help you :) Morses hard tail Gauge set of strings are actually 10-13-16-26-32-42

& it is normal from what i know about the floyd sitting down on the finish since i had a floyd y2d.

call customer service first and foremost they will help!!!!........but all i have ever done is spin the truss rod, it raises or lowers the action ...if all the strings are a height i like it ...and the action is were i dig it and just 1 string is the problem then i use the tiny allen wrench and raise just that 1 saddle a little until the buzz goes away ....but the moral of the story here is ...."unlike any other guitar i have seen or played in 30 years ,i have never had a guitar sooooooo ez to raise or lower the action of the strings ....just spin the truss rod ........"

I'm in Aus so it's not very convenient to call the US, but I could.. Lenny..you mentioned about raising the saddle, is that on a floyd? Could be just my non-observance but I haven't noticed individual saddle adjustment options on the floyd..

I plan on having a Guitar Planet get together in Melbourne (and Brisbane) soon. but that won't help you out now. Contact CMC [email protected] and they will put you on contact with a reputable repairer that can set your Floyd up. I have an EVH that doesn't have anything under the bridge and have had zero problems btw. This guitar has done over 1000 gigs and is now retired from active duty.
