question for those with piezo bridges

I find on my Bongo 5HHp that the B string can't get lower than about 4/32" at the 12th fret when using the "factory setup" per the faq. This is after setting the neck relief and string heights per the faq.

Do any other piezo bridge users notice that the B string cannot get to 3/32" like the rest of the strings?

This isn't necessarily a problem, I'm mainly curious.

P.S. I use a Peterson tuner to get the intonation dialed in.

I have done Many set ups with Piezo Bridges on 4 & 5s and for the Guys who likes real close action I use a Neck Shim and that works perfect.

Thank you for your perspective on this. It sounds like the bulk of the piezo saddles inhibits action from getting as low as the saddles on the non piezo bridges - is this your experience?

Any hints on shimming a bass neck? I've heard a playing card or masking tape gradually built up works well. I'm looking for about 1/32" on the B side (although I could raise the G side also if an angle will cause problems).

Ya know i think EB might even sell the Shims, Different colors mean different thickness. I prefer to use a real shim over tape or a Playing card for they don't get squashed down,

250! Dude, you're in CA I'd love to come check them out someday (I am in the SF bay area)

At a minimum you must show pics... I'm drooling at the thought


And yes, with my experience with Musicman I will actively look for only their basses if I ever am in search of something new. That's how much I appreciate being treated right.

P.S. I've had a similar experience with Genz Benz (which I don't think competes in any way with Musicman anymore in terms of amps. otherwise I wouldn't mention it)

Well it's obvious I can't keep them here in my home due to space, but I do play them all, I'm not a collector per say as to more of a Player who just loves a well made bass that sounds only like these do.

Here's a followup:

Aja (Asia?) from customer service sent some shims to me - a whole mess of em.

I really appreciated the way should took care of me

It turns out the bass already had a pink one, I replaced with a thicker yellow one.

Its all good now.

hahaha! No worries...my parents pretty much set me up for a lifetime of that with the way they spelled it ;)
