I had to laugh when he said that too much birdseye will weaken the neck. Besides that and the Bryan Adams riffs I thinks it's a great demo thanks Dean

He's quite correct about the birdseye (I'm sure you mean for looks though). Birdseyes are knots in the wood and knots are weaknesses.

Knots definitely decrease the strength of the wood. That isn't to say that birdseye is "bad" for a neck, but the strength of a hard rock maple neck without birdseyes would definitely be greater. Add a good truss rod system into the neck and it'll likely be plenty strong enough. There will be cases where you'll notice a birdseye neck warping or need more adjustment than one without, however.

Joe, that may be the case to some extent, but if it were as big an issue as some make it out to be then I'm betting the top manufacturers would be using birdeseye laminates over unfigured maple.

For what it's worth, my birdseye'd to death AL and LUKE hardly ever need tweaks of the truss, while many of the other brand guitars at the shop with plain necks get out of whack when someone sneezes.

Maybe it is the superior EB truss rod design!??

Enough speculating for me, I'm going to check UPS tracking and see when our next 25ths will be arriving. I think we have 5 en route!

Hey! Keith Scott rules. Excellent player, and that is a GREAT riff in my book. :)

Oh please tell me mine is on the way!

Already bought and paid for?

Or some for stock? :D

Depending on Pete's answer to the above, at least one is bought and paid for. I think there are like 3 on his on order page. Presumably those are for stock.

Before seeing this demo, I was convinced that I would only be happy with how the 25th looks with a rosewood fingerboard. (and I'm a maple guy) Now, I'm quite sure I like the maple better.

First off...First class job from looks like a marvelous store...(did I use the word marvelous?)

I don's agree that too much birdseye is a bad thing....technically a pure quarter sawn neck bland may unsure that you never have problems but I have 25 years of using birdseye with zero problems.

My hats off the the beautiful presentation

I'd definitely like to hear the guitar with real gain behind it. Not boutique gain. LOL.

I knew a guy named Skinny Mulligan who had 1000 birds eyes on his neck. He bent a note on the 24th fret and the neck turned to dust in his hands. It must be true.
