Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls

Seriously, if you like DT and similar stuff, you HAVE to get this CD. It's available on iTunes.

1) Sixx A.M. - The Heroin Diaries - Wow... What can I say? This has got to be one killer effort from the 3 guys. Everything from the playing, composition to recording is nothing but exceptional. It's way way ahead of most stuff I hear coming from the US these days. James Michael's voice is what really caught me on this album. Not so much DJ Ashba's playing, who's rhythm work is killer, but the singing!!! Oh wow... That's emotion right there... I wonder if he does any other band efforts? I hope they put out a 2nd release, but considering the original purpose of this album, I'm not sure if that's gonna happen. This album is so good that I'd consider it a modern classic, if it wasn't so serious. it's what Motley Crue should have sounded like!

Whoa! Just found out! There's a 2nd album coming out end of this year!!!!

Just a few-

Dream Theater- Black Clouds & Silver Linings

Rush- Snakes & Arrows Live- another great live album from Rush! they're now in their 50s and better than ever IMO

Chickenfoot- it was a bit of a letdown at first, but it really grew on me. It's just a really good rockin' album!

Tool- 10,000 Days- One of my favorite albums ever, I love it so much, sometimes I get the urge to listen to it then I can't get enough of it for a while. This happens at least once a month. Oddly I haven't gotten any of their other albums yet, but I really want to.

They're going to start writing for the next album this fall - at least Alex says so, but who knows since Neil's a new daddy..

Here's a few you probably haven't heard:
Andy Lovegrove - Just A Man (my favorite so far this year)
Kelli Ali - Rocking Horse
Neal Morse - Lifeline
..and..
Machine Head - The Blackening
Whitesnake - Good To Be Bad (awesome)

Well...

Albums, that are maximum 3 years old:

David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk, Remember that night
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a blank planet
Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings (deffinitely not the best DT album, but still better than the most)

Albums, that have impressed me in the last couple of years:

Django Reinhardt - everything he did
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing, Arriving somewhere..., (actually, everything they've recorded is great)
Zemfira - russian singer-songwriter, no one here has probably ever heard of her, all 5 albums
Riverside - Out of Myself
Roger Waters - Amused to Death (Impressed by this for almost 15 years, Jeff Beck is Godlike on this)
Whitesnake - Slip of the tongue (Steve Vai at his best), Live ... In the shadow of the Blues (Tommy Aldridge is marvellous)

Not necessarily the best "guitar" rock, but definitely new music that is constantly on my play list (I recommend a lot of older albums by the same bands)

Muse: Black Holes and Revelations; Absolution
Coheed and Cambria: Good Apollo IV, No World For Tomorrow
Incubus: Light Grenades
Kings of Leon: Only By The Night
Wolfmother: Wolfmother (original Euro EP is best)
Radiohead: In Rainbows

Last night I picked up Big Elf "Cheat the Gallows" at Amoeba. It sounds original and familar at the same time. Can't wait to see them with Dream Theater & Zappa on Saturday. :)
