Help! Caught a SUB1 from the pond, and plan to replace the bridge PU...

Hi there,

this question might have been asked a million times....and I might be way too stupid to find the info here...

Does the bridge PU of a SUB1 with standard trem require trem spacing or can I go with standard spacing?

F-Spaced is prefered.

standard depending if you have a floyed trem.
and get duncans"jb" you wont go wrong with that bad boy

F-spaced

F-spacing refers to Fender spacing rather than G-spacing or Gibson spacing, It's based on the string spacing, scale length and bridges each company went with. I believe that most Floyds are F spaced (don't know what Neal Schon does for his Floyded Les Pauls) but that is not where the name is derived. F-spaced existed before Floyds came along.

As an example - the original Morse used a G spaced humbucker at its bridge even though the pole pieces didn't line up exactly because Steve had used a Gibson humbucker when he created the original Frankentele and liked the way it sounded so it made its way into the design of his sig model.

As jim has stated, it would be the preferred spacing.

Even my D Sonic is F-Spaced, and it's on a hardtail Sub.

I'll go for an F-spaced then.

As the Duncan JB was mentioned - I love that PU, had in on many of my axes before I finally turned to the EBMM side of things....and sold all the other axes (except one ;-).

As for the SUB, I thought I'll try the DIMarzio AirZone, as I guess it's got a chunky tone according to what many say and write. What do you guys think?
