Hey, you're in perth as well!! where are you about?
Anymore opinion on the tremolo and tuning stability?
Also, I know the strat us std neck width is 42.8mm and the silo is 41.3 mm. Would the ‘feel’ still be the same? (stoopid question really)
Just saw Jammy Humphries on youtube using silo. Man he’s awesome!!
The stability of the Music Man tremolos is fantastic.. both the vintage trem and the Petrucci trem. They're based on the same idea, but the Petrucci has a smooth cover over the bridge for a more comfortable palm rest. They string through the body and use locking tuners.. there's nowhere for the string to slip! It was so nice to be able to tune using the tuning keys again after so many years of playing floyds!
Also, I used to build in some time between every few songs when gigging so that I could tune up a bit. I really don't have to do that anymore with my JP.. I can go nuts on the trem and still be in perfect tuning for the next song.. it's freakishly stable!
As for the 'feel'.. I think you're worrying too much. Play whatever you end up buying exclusively for a week or two and you'll adjust to it. Even going from Ibanez guitars to my JP it took about 2 weeks to get used to it. I just avoided playing my other guitars in that time period. Then, I got so used to the quality that I sold my other guitars and bought more EBMM.. heh heh.
