Sweet score!

More than makes up for losing the JP, I reckon!

Great score, Steve! The more you play it the less you'll miss your JP. And the birdseye...that's just sick!

Congrats Steve!
I would love to try one of those one day...I actually tried it upside down and backwards at the Petrucci meet and greet at Dubaldo's, but it was upside down and backwards.

Thanks again. I'm loving it more and more. I'll play it on a big 100w head either tonight or tomorrow. So I'll see how it is outside my practice rig at my apartment.

You will be blown away. I played mine through a little 1x12 Line6 Spider Valve for a week before I got to use the Bogner. All I can say is Bogner + 25th = tonal nirvana.

That's a tough question to answer because I traded my JP in for the 25th based out of pragmatism and need, and not because of preference. I'm a big guy and I have big paws for hands, so I accommodate to neck sizes well.

So far, I have to say I still prefer the JP neck better. I have big hands, so the wide neck radius suits me perfectly, and the flatter board is more forgiving with accuracy. However, the 25th is very, very comfortable too. Nice smooth C shape, like a Silo. There's nothing a little practice to get used to a neck.

However, as for the Pups, they handle gain very well, but they are definitely not as hot as the D-Sonic bridge in the JP. No way. The 25th, IMO shines THE most at clean sounds, overdriven sounds, and average rock gain sounds. I have yet to push the 25th through something like a triple rectifier, but the JP is definitely more suited in that area.

I'd recommend a BFR JP or a Luke for your needs. The Tone Block is heaven on the 25th, but the BFR JP and Luke's have em too. Not to mention their body is Alder instead of the standard JP's basswood. Give those a whirl. The 25th cannot make your Mark IV roar like a JP can. I have not heard any pick up with more punch and clarity than the new DiMarzio Crunch Lab/Liquifire pups that JP sports in all his axes now.

scooby you had me until the basswood comment. That is just hogwash and internet drivvel bass wood is a great body wood. Jeez Holdsworth started it Eddie took it from there and petrucci loves it.... ITs super light and extremely resonant. I just laugh when that gets tossed around as inferior and cheap. All of those artists picked the tone with their ears, not internet explorer

This is probably getting off topic, but on the subject of woods and the tone block. I sampled a standard JP6 (basswood) and a BFR (alder/tone..) back-to-back about a year ago. There were some definite differences in the tones from the guitars, but I personally felt the standard JP6 sounded better. I didn't notice any major difference in resonance between the two. I remember thinking the BFR was a bit warmer (certainly nicer looking and the push-pull was nice too).

Thanks for the note BP, but I would actually like you to read what I wrote again in regards to the basswood. I didn't say a negative thing about the wood. Nor make a single reference to it as an inferior or less withstanding wood of choice for guitar players. My entire intention was aimed at Sick Indian's request for a new axe. He stating that he was looking for a new sound, and I offered the BFR JP as an alternative because it was a different wood and therefore offered a different sound.

My recommendation to him to consider the BFR Luke's or JP comes from a combination of the inclusion of the Tone Block and a difference in wood which offers a different tonal quality than what SickIndian is used to. As I've stated before, by no means is Alder/Mahogany "better" or "superior" in juxtaposition with other woods, rather it's a different cup of tea, and may perhaps be what SickIndian is looking for seeing that his standard JP is not working out for him.

Hope that makes sense. :D

Then again, if there is any misinterpretation in what what I wrote, that is an error of poor writing syntax, structure and clarity on my part.

Overly self-critical English Major FTL.

I got it right and there is no misinterpretation here!

I really like the sound of Luke and new JP sounds awesome but when i got my 1st petrucci it just made me think "where is the all sound i could hear on albums go!" especially that i use similar gear than John uses and i know that "similar" can make a huge difference but dissapointment makes that you're looking for something more powerfull.

Conclusion:
I need to check new Petrucci and Luke on my gear to judge if there's tonality im after.

You are the only guy I know of who lives near me that has one. There is a possibility that much jealousy is in your general proximity! :D
